The BTA-Legislative Reference Division extends its warmest congratulations to our Librarian III, 𝐌𝐬. 𝐀𝐬𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐁. 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐚, for being elected as 𝐕𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 of the Philippine Librarians Association Inc.-BARMM Librarians Council (PLAI-BARMMLC).

Her election reflects her outstanding contributions and leadership in the field of librarianship within the Bangsamoro region. We are confident that she will serve with dedication and distinction in her new role.

JUST IN: Senior Minister Mohammad Yacob was elected Speaker of the Bangsamoro Parliament on Tuesday, October 21, following the death of former Speaker Pangalian Balindong.

Yacob secured the position with no opposition.

The Parliament is expected to continue its legislative agenda under Yacob’s leadership, including discussions on key regional measures.

On Rabi’ath Thani 17, 1447 AH / October 9, 2025, the BTA-Legislative Reference Division successfully conducted the fourth and final series of its campaign for the establishment of Bangsamoro Parliamentary Corners, held in the province of Basilan.

This culminating activity gathered representatives from local government units and academic institutions across the province who expressed strong support for the initiative aimed at bringing parliamentary information closer to the people.

The Bangsamoro Parliamentary Corners serve as dedicated spaces within municipal offices and libraries that provide communities, researchers, and students with access to essential information about the Bangsamoro Parliament.

Through these information hubs, the campaign seeks to enhance public understanding of the legislative process, promote transparency in governance, and encourage active citizen participation in shaping policies that affect the Bangsamoro people.

During the activity, Mr AbdelGafur discussed the composition and key functions of the BTA Parliament, highlighting its vital role in fostering democratic governance in the region. Ms Datuamala guided the participants through the steps and guidelines in setting up the Parliamentary Corners effectively.

As the final leg of this province-wide campaign, the Basilan event marks the successful completion of the LRefD’s initiative to bring the Bangsamoro Parliament closer to every corner of the region. By empowering communities through knowledge and access to information, the LRefD continues to promote transparency, accountability, and citizen engagement in the Bangsamoro.

READ: Public statement on the passing of Hon. Atty. Pangalian M. Balindong, Speaker of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority Parliament.
