BASILAN — His Eminence Sheik Muslim M. Guiamaden, Wālī of Bangsamoro, led the Office of the Wālī of Bangsamoro (OWB) in its Exposure Through Consultation and Community Visitation held from July 27–31, 2026, in the Province of Basilan. The activity aimed to strengthen the relationship between the Office and Bangsamoro communities through consultation, dialogue, and collaboration in promoting peace, unity, and moral leadership.
As part of the five-day exposure, the Wālī and the OWB delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Provincial Government of Basilan on July 29, where they were warmly received by Governor Mujiv Hataman. His Eminence expressed his gratitude for the hospitality extended to the delegation, while their discussions emphasized stronger cooperation and a lasting partnership between the Provincial Government and the Office of the Wālī for the betterment of the Bangsamoro.
The main public exposure program on July 30 gathered representatives from various communities across Basilan. Member of Parliament Mosber E. Alauddin formally welcomed the Wālī, the delegation, participants, and distinguished guests, describing the activity as an affirmation of the shared commitment to strengthen the bond between the Office of the Wālī and the Bangsamoro people.
In his remarks, MP Alauddin highlighted the Wālī’s mission of promoting moral governance, unity, compassion, and values rooted in Bangsamoro faith, culture, and identity. He underscored the importance of collaboration among the ulama, former combatants, community leaders, civil society organizations, and government institutions in building a peaceful, progressive, and resilient Bangsamoro.
At the heart of the program was the message of His Eminence Sheikh Muslim M. Guiamaden, who emphasized the preservation of Bangsamoro identity, the centrality of Islam and faith in the lives of the Bangsamoro people, and their collective responsibility in sustaining the gains of the Bangsamoro struggle and advancing good governance, unity, and social development. His message was delivered in Arabic and translated for the participants.
The Wālī reminded the participants that the Bangsamoro identity has endured through generations through the strength of faith and steadfast adherence to Islam. Calling on the people to remain united and firmly grounded in Islamic teachings, he emphasized worship, good character, honesty, justice, compassion, sound knowledge, and righteous deeds as foundations for a stronger Bangsamoro and for the proper upbringing of future generations.
Reflecting on the historical struggle of the Moro people, His Eminence stressed that the opportunities now enjoyed by the Bangsamoro do not mark the end of the struggle, but the beginning of a new stage of responsibility—one centered on human development, education, public service, the fight against corruption, and the promotion of honesty and integrity.
He further emphasized that strengthening the Bangsamoro is a collective Amanah, with every individual—whether a leader, scholar, student, farmer, businessperson, employee, or member of any sector—having a role in advancing the community's welfare. He encouraged the Bangsamoro people to regard sincere and honest service to others as an ibadah, or an act of worship.
The Wālī likewise called for unity, cooperation, mutual respect, meaningful dialogue, and the prioritization of the common good over personal, group, or political interests. Recognizing the Bangsamoro Government as the product of decades of struggle, sacrifice, and perseverance, he urged the people to protect and strengthen the institutions established through the peace process and to work collectively to ensure their success, stability, and good governance.
His Eminence stressed that the success of the Bangsamoro Government is ultimately the success of the Bangsamoro people, and that its gains can only be sustained through unity, cooperation, accountability, respect for differing views, and sincere commitment to the common good.
The program also provided an avenue for direct engagement through an Open Forum and Community Sharing, where participants raised questions and concerns regarding the mandates of the Office of the Wālī and community-related matters. The delegation responded to the participants and encouraged continued collaboration between the Office and the people of Basilan.
In closing, the Wālī prayed for the unity and steadfastness of the Bangsamoro people and for the protection of the Bangsamoro, its government, religion, people, and lands. He likewise prayed for guidance for its leaders, mujahideen, and ulama, and for the Bangsamoro to continue becoming a land of peace, faith, security, and goodness.
