COTABATO CITYโ The Bangsamoro Information and Communications Technology Office (BICTO), in partnership with the Ministry of Trade, Investments and Tourism (MTIT-BARMM), conducted a series of Community and School-Based Consumer Education Drives in selected barangays in Cotabato City. The initiative supports MTIT-BARMMโs efforts to strengthen the implementation of consumer protection programs while promoting greater awareness of data privacy, cybersecurity, and responsible digital practices among communities.
The series of activities was conducted in Barangay Rosary Heights V on August 25, Barangay Rosary Heights VI on August 26, and Mother Barangay Bagua on August 27, 2026. Participants came from various community sectors, including purok leaders, barangay workers, and other community stakeholders, providing an opportunity to strengthen consumer and digital awareness among individuals who play important roles within their respective communities.
Representing BICTO, Arnold S. Cararag, MBAEX, MDN, MCS, and Fahad Reyes, MIT, served as resource persons and facilitators during the activities. They provided discussions on data privacy and cybersecurity, emphasizing the protection of personal information, awareness of digital threats and risks, and the adoption of safe and responsible practices when using digital platforms and services.
Through this collaborative initiative, BICTO and MTIT-BARMM reaffirm their commitment to promoting informed, responsible, and digitally aware communities. The partnership underscores the importance of bringing consumer education and cybersecurity awareness closer to the grassroots as part of the broader effort toward a secure, inclusive, and digitally empowered Bangsamoro.
