To foster stronger values-driven governance and enhance public service across the region, the Development Academy of the Bangsamoro (DAB), through its Center of Knowledge Management (CKM), recently gathered representatives from key Bangsamoro Offices, and Agencies for the Knowledge Exchange Forum on Gender and Development in Kidapawan City. The multi-day activity brought together members of the GAD Focal Point System and various attached offices under the Office of the Chief Minister, including BDI, BLA, BICTO, BIO, CSEA, OOBC, OSC, and TMS, to explore how Islamic faith and Bangsamoro cultural heritage can be actively integrated to advance GAD outcomes, empower families, and reinforce ethics in the workplace.

Facilitated by Resource Speaker Mohammad U. Balimbingan, SCL of the Bangsamoro Women Commission, the forum provided a meaningful space for cross-office dialogue on aligning public service with core Islamic values. Discussions focused on principles such as adl (justice), amanah (trust and responsibility), rahmah (compassion), and shura (consultation), examining how these faith anchors promote equity, dignity, and workplace accommodation. Participants reviewed existing agency programs, including faith-aligned literacy efforts, inclusive digital access, and community outreach, to highlight best practices, address implementation gaps, and promote shared household decision-making for family well-being.

The forum also addressed workplace ethics through structured reflections on Integrity, Professionalism, and Accountability, allowing participants to evaluate internal operational challenges and identify practical GAD mainstreaming opportunities within their respective offices. To maintain momentum beyond the event, participating agencies finalized action plans and established a sustainable Community of Practice (CoP). This initiative strengthens inter-office collaboration, peer mentoring, and joint knowledge management platforms across BARMM. Through these continuous learning initiatives, DAB reaffirms its commitment to developing a values-centered, inclusive, and professional bureaucracy for the Bangsamoro community.

Education experts, school administrators, and supervisors from the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) and Region 12 concluded a successful two-day writeshop, producing a fully developed short-course curriculum designed to strengthen the capabilities of school principals, and education supervisors.

Held at 8th Avenue, Kayaga, Kabacan, Cotabato from August 15 to 16, the activity focused on Instructional Leadership, Management, and Supervisory Development. It was organized to create a context-responsive, standards-aligned curriculum that will serve as the official framework for the professional growth and practice of education leaders across the region.

The writeshop brought together a diverse team of specialists, ensuring the curriculum was shaped by both academic rigor and on-the-ground field experience. In attendance were: five professors from the University of Southern Mindanao (USM); three Education Program Supervisors; three Cluster Heads; one Principal and one Master Teacher from the SGA Basic Education Division of the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE); the Principal of CFCST Laboratory High School; and two Principals and one District Supervisor from the Schools Division of Cotabato, Region 12.

Through two full days of collaborative drafting, review, and refinement, the group successfully finalized the complete curriculum. The Center of Education and Extension, which organized and facilitated the activity, expressed full satisfaction with the output and the overall conduct of the program.

The resulting curriculum outlines clear competency standards, learning outcomes, and performance indicators. It integrates key priorities including instructional leadership across all curriculum phases, peace education, cultural responsiveness, inclusivity for Moro, Indigenous Peoples, and settler communities, and sound school governance.

Designed as a short-course training curriculum, the document will serve as the foundation for professional development programs for BARMM education leaders. It aims not only to improve school management but to ensure every principal and supervisor is equipped to inspire quality teaching, protect learners rights, and nurture an education system that reflects the regionโ€™s unique identity and aspirations.

The collaborative effort was hailed as a model of inter-agency and inter-regional cooperation, bringing together expertise from the academe, regional ministries, and field schools toward a single shared goal: better education for every Bangsamoro learner.

โ€œOur work here is done, but its impact will be felt in schools for years to come,โ€ participants noted. โ€œWe leave with a curriculum we can all be proud to implement โ€” one written with vision, inclusivity, clarity, and purpose.โ€

Although the process of becoming a CPD provider will take time and requires further compliance with PRC requirements, DAB remains committed to pursuing this goal. In the future, DAB hopes to provide quality training programs that not only strengthen the competencies of BARMM public servants but also earn recognized CPD units.

The Internal Audit Division of the Bangsamoro Parliament, in collaboration with the Development Academy of the Bangsamoro (DAB), successfully conducted a Training on 5S Methodology in the Workplace on July 22-23, 2026, at Surya Hall, Mall of Alnor, Cotabato City. The activity aimed to strengthen workplace organization and improve efficiency through the application of the 5S methodology.

During the two-day training, participants learned not only the five steps of 5S; Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain but also the additional principles of Safety and Spirit, which emphasize maintaining a safe work environment and fostering teamwork and positive workplace values. The concept of Kaizen, or continuous improvement, was also introduced to encourage participants to make small, consistent improvements in their daily work processes.

To reinforce the learning, participants conducted a 5S Workplace Audit to assess their current office practices and identify areas for improvement. The training concluded with an Action Planning workshop, where participants developed practical plans to implement the 5S principles in their respective offices, demonstrating the shared commitment of the Internal Audit Division and DAB to building a more organized, efficient, and service-oriented workplace.
