𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗢𝗙 𝗦𝗘𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗢𝗥 𝗕𝗢𝗡𝗚 𝗚𝗢
𝗥𝗲: 𝗕𝗔𝗥𝗠𝗠 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀
I strongly condemn the series of violent incidents that transpired today in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao. These reported armed attacks and confrontations are reportedly linked to the ongoing regional parliamentary elections.
Nakikiramay ako sa mga pamilya ng mga nasawi at nasaktan sa walang saysay na kaguluhang ito. Hiling ko na mabigyan sila ng hustisya at mapanagot ang mga may kagagawan nito.
We have come a long way after decades of war and the struggle for Bangsamoro’s right to self‑determination. Our Muslim brothers and sisters who came before us paid the ultimate price with their lives and freedom so that we could witness this very day. This regional parliamentary election stands as a referendum of our political maturity and the collective desire of the Bangsamoro people for genuine and lasting peace.
Pinaghirapan din nating makamit ang mga hangaring ito noong administrasyon ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte at pinirmahan nya ang Republic Act No. 11054 o ang Bangsamoro Organic Law. This paved the way for the establishment of BARMM as a way to correct the historical injustice committed to the Bangsamoro people.
Nananalangin ako na ang resulta ng halalang ito ay tunay na magsasalamin sa kapasyahan ng mga botante sa rehiyon. Nananawagan tayo sa COMELEC na tiyakin ang integridad ng election returns at ang kaligtasan ng mga election personnel habang nagpapatuloy ang canvassing ng mga resulta.
Mga kababayan at kapatid ko sa Bangsamoro region, huwag nating hayaang masayang ang ilang dekadang sakripisyo ng ating mga ninuno. Magtulungan tayo, kasama ang mga otoridad, upang maging maayos ang bilangan sa halalang ito—nang sa gayon ang mga pinunong maihahalal ay tunay na demokratikong kinatawan ng ating bayan.
Let us remain steadfast in our unity and commitment to peace. The future of Bangsamoro depends on our collective resolve to protect democracy and honor the sacrifices of those who came before us.
