COTABATO CITY — The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR) actively participated in the kick-off ceremony of the 2026 National Women’s Month on March 9, 2026, held at KCC Mall of Cotabato.

The activity was spearheaded by the Bangsamoro Women Commission (BWC) under the leadership of its Chairperson, Hadja Bainon Karon. The event gathered representatives from Bangsamoro ministries, offices, and agencies (BMOAs), local government units (LGUs), civil society organizations, women advocates, international partners, and development partners in a collective show of support for women’s empowerment and gender equality.

The ceremony formally launched the month-long observance anchored on the national theme “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society,” with the sub-theme “Lead Like the Babaylans, Filipinas!”

The theme highlights the enduring leadership of women, drawing inspiration from the Babaylans—respected women leaders in pre-colonial communities who were known for guiding their people with wisdom, courage, and compassion.

In her message, Chairperson Karon emphasized the importance of recognizing the vital role women play in shaping societies and driving progress.

“Every year, the world comes together to recognize the invaluable contributions of women in shaping communities, nurturing peace, and advancing development,” she said.

She also reflected on the meaning behind this year’s campaign call. “When we say ‘Lead like the Babaylans, Filipinas,’ we are reminded of the strength of women who lead their communities with wisdom and compassion.”

The launch signals the beginning of various activities across the Bangsamoro region aimed at celebrating women’s achievements, strengthening gender equality, and encouraging inclusive participation in development.

This month, let us honor the strength, resilience, and leadership of every woman recognizing their enduring contributions to their families, communities, and the future of society.

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞 | The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR) proudly joined the vibrant and colorful symbolic anniversary parade on January 21, in celebration of the 𝟳𝘁𝗵 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗼 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘆. Together with other Bangsamoro ministries, offices, attached agencies, LGUs, and national agencies, the parade proceeded from Cotabato City Hall to the Bangsamoro Government Center (BGC).
