The Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committee (BDRRMC) of Barangay Poblacion 02, Currimao, Ilocos Norte has been activated and is now on heightened alert for Typhoon .

For emergency reports and other disaster-related concerns, residents are encouraged to immediately contact or personally report any incident the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (BDRRMO).

Furthermore, please be advised that the barangay emergency hotlines and the contact numbers of our Barangay Officials are available to respond to emergencies and provide immediate assistance.

We encourage everyone to remain vigilant, monitor official weather advisories, and take all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of your family and community.

DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian clarified that the UPLIFT beneficiaries list was not prepared by the DSWD. It was generated by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) using data from the 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS), which classified households as "poor" or "not poor."

The DSWD's role is limited to cross-matching and validating the PSA list for proper implementation. The agency cannot add or remove names from the list.

He also stressed that no politicians, government officials, or LGUs had any involvement in selecting beneficiaries, ensuring that the process is data-driven, impartial, and based solely on official records.

Nilinaw ni DSWD Secretary REX Gatchalian na ang listahan ng mga benepisyaryo ng UPLIFT Assistance para sa Group 2 at 3 ay hindi galing sa DSWD. Ang listahan ay nagmula sa Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) at nakabatay sa 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS), kung saan isinagawa ang pagtukoy sa mga kabahayan at kung sino ang kabilang sa mga "poor" at "not poor" households.

Ayon sa Kalihim, ang tungkulin ng DSWD ay ang cross-matching ng listahang ibinigay ng PSA para matiyak ang tamang implementasyon ng tulong-pinansyal. Binigyang-diin din niya na walang kapangyarihan ang Kagawaran na magdagdag o mag-alis ng mga pangalan sa listahan.

Dagdag pa ni Secretary Gatchalian, walang naging pakikialam ang sinumang politiko, opisyal o local government unit (LGU) sa pagpili ng mga benepisyaryo para matiyak na ang proseso ay nananatiling patas at nakabatay sa opisyal na datos.

Currimao proudly celebrates its achievement as a recipient of the 2025 Good Financial Housekeeping Recognition—a reflection of its commitment to transparency, accountability, and responsible stewardship of public funds.

This recognition shows Currimao’s strong commitment to transparency, accountability, and proper management of public funds—basically the “minimum requirement” that somehow still needs awards to prove it exists. It reflects honest and responsible governance, where systems are actually followed, records are properly kept, and public money is treated like public money.

Beyond compliance, it also highlights the LGU’s “consistent effort” in doing what is supposed to be standard practice anyway—paired with the discipline, teamwork, work ethics, and integrity that public service demands. After all, transparency and accountability should not be occasional achievements; they should be everyday habits.

Today, we celebrate Currimao not just for passing the standards, but for continuing to uphold good governance in action. May this recognition serve as both a reminder and a challenge—to further strengthen transparency, sharpen accountability, and ensure that public service remains genuinely open, honest, and always answerable to the people.

The real challenge now is not simply to earn the next Good Financial Housekeeping Recognition, but to raise the bar even higher. Recognition may come once a year, but transparency and accountability are tested every day. May Currimao continue to prove that good governance is more than a certificate on the wall—it is a commitment that the people can see, feel, and trust in every transaction, every decision, and every service delivered.

Together with my fellow Barangay Officials, both elected and appointed, we actively participated in the Brigada Eskwela activities of Wilbur C. Go National High School in Barangay Poblacion 2, Currimao, Ilocos Norte.

Through this initiative, we joined hands with the school community in preparing a safe, clean, and conducive learning environment for our students as they begin another academic year.

In the afternoon, we continued our Brigada Eskwela efforts at Doña Josepa E. Marcos Elementary School, the very school where I completed my elementary education. Returning to my alma mater and contributing to its preparation for the incoming school year made the activity even more meaningful and memorable.
