In line with the annual celebration of the Nutrition Month, through the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) initiated by the Child Development Workers headed by Ms. Nelia A Dadulla,RSW,MSSW in coordination with the LGU Currimao through the leadership of our LCE Hon. Edward T. Quilala and SBM Officials headed by VM Judith B. Quilala, also in partnership with the Municipal Health Office (MHO), Municipal Nutrition Affairs Office (MNAO) parents and Barangay Officials, successfully conducted the A1 Child Modelling and Coloring Contest today July 29,2026 held at Mega Sports Complex Currmao Ilocos Norte.
The activity aimed to promote proper nutrition, healthy child development, and increase public awareness on the importance of raising healthy, active, and well-nourished children.
The contest gathered children from the 23 barangays of Currimao who qualified based on the prescribed health and nutrition standards. The participants showcased their confidence, charm, and healthy appearance while wearing creative made up of recycled materials attire that reflected the Nutrition Month theme. Parents and guardians actively supported the participants throughout the preparation and conduct of the event.
The competition included an introduction, modelling presentation, and a short question-and-answer portion for parents or guardians focusing on proper nutrition, child care, hygiene, and healthy lifestyle practices. A panel of judges evaluated the contestants based on nutritional status, stage presence, confidence, personality, grooming, and overall performance in accordance with the contest guidelines.
The event highlighted the importance of balanced nutrition, regular health monitoring, and positive parenting in ensuring the holistic development of children. It also encouraged families to adopt healthy eating habits and actively participate in community nutrition programs.
The program concluded with the awarding of certificates, medals, and prizes to the winners and all participating children. Overall, the A1 Child Modelling Contest was successfully conducted and served as an effective platform to celebrate Nutrition Month while promoting awareness of proper nutrition and recognizing children who exemplify healthy growth and development. The activity strengthened collaboration among families, barangay officials, and partner agencies in supporting the health and well-being of every child in the community.
