READ: A total of 23,239 beneficiaries in Camarines Norte received their first rice subsidy under the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) program initiated by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

The distributions took place in their respective municipalities from August 24 to August 29.

The 10-kilogram rice subsidy was funded by the P91 million allocated to the provincial government of Camarines Norte through the LGSF. Additionally, four municipalities began their first cycle of distribution, utilizing P5 million specifically allocated for their towns.

The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) identified eight municipalities that distributed rice subsidies to target beneficiaries under the LGSF of the Provincial Government of Camarines Norte: Labo (4,189 beneficiaries), Daet (4,359), Jose Panganiban (2,551), Vinzons (2,044), Basud (1,989), Sta. Elena (1,735), Talisay (1,154), and San Lorenzo Ruiz (653).

Meanwhile, four municipalities distributed rice subsidies using their P5 million LGSF allocation. Labo distributed rice on July 27 to 1,295 beneficiaries, while Mercedes held its distribution on August 27 (600 beneficiaries). Basud and Jose Panganiban, which have 1,282 and 1,388 beneficiaries, respectively, distributed rice alongside the provincial government’s allocation.

In the coming months, each beneficiary will receive a 10-kilogram rice subsidy every other month until December 2026.

Provincial Administrator Don Eduardo Padilla led the distribution of rice subsidies to 4,359 beneficiaries in Daet on August 24. He expressed gratitude for President Marcos’ program.

“The beneficiaries are the poorest of the poor who are not part of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program or the Walang Gutom Program,” said Rizza Moral, officer-in-charge of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office of LGU-Daet. “We conducted validations with the barangays and the Department of Social Welfare and Development.”

Annie Baynas, the municipal social welfare officer of Mercedes, said, “On behalf of the municipal government of Mercedes, thank you very much to the Office of the President.”

Mercedes implemented its rice distribution to over 600 beneficiaries using its P5-million LGSF allocation.

Ines Rosales, a senior citizen from Barangay 5 in Daet, expressed her gratitude, saying, “Thank you very much, President BBM, for helping the needy like us.”

Rosales, who is a widow unable to work due to diabetes, lives with her two grandchildren and relies on support from her children, who have families of their own.

Rene Sayno, a 48-year-old tricycle driver from Barangay Magang, also shared his appreciation.

“For poor people like us, receiving this assistance is a significant help for our day-to-day survival,” he said.

Sayno is the sole provider for his family, which includes six children, five of whom are currently in school.

Doloroso Maligat, a 55-year-old farmer from Barangay Borabod in Daet, stated, “I am thankful to President Bongbong Marcos for the aid given to our family.”
