In observance of Nutrition Month 2026 and advocating Healthy Workplace Program, the Department of Health – Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation Center (DOH-DTRC) successfully conducted its Nutrition Month Celebration on July 27, 2026, with the theme "Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan." The activity was participated in by 50 DOH-DTRC employees and was conducted to strengthen awareness and appreciation of proper nutrition, healthy lifestyle practices, and environmental sustainability in support of the Department’s health promotion initiatives.
The activity was organized and facilitated by the Nutrition and Dietetics Section, headed by Ms. Girlie R. Supangan, Nutritionist-Dietitian III, together with Ms. Ariane Danica D. Villaruz, Nutritionist-Dietitian I, and Ms. Jessica P. Fernandez, Nutritionist-Dietitian I. The celebration consisted of two major activities: a Nutrition Lecture in the morning and a Healthy Cooking Contest in the afternoon.
During the morning session, the Nutrition and Dietetics Section served as resource speakers and discussed the 2026 Nutrition Month theme, "Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan," along with relevant nutrition and diet-related topics. The session aimed to enhance employees’ awareness of proper nutrition, healthy eating practices, sustainable food choices, and the importance of protecting the environment.
In the afternoon, a Healthy Cooking Contest was conducted, wherein DOH-DTRC employees were grouped into four (4) teams and prepared nutritious and innovative recipes using healthy, affordable, and locally available ingredients. The activity promoted sustainable food preparation practices while encouraging teamwork, creativity, and the application of nutrition concepts discussed during the morning session.
Following the judging and evaluation of the prepared dishes, the final results revealed that Group 1 (Creamy Maja Blanca and Mango Kani Salad) obtained a final score of 91.00%. Group 2 (Chicken Shawarma and Vegan Spaghetti) earned a final score of 91.75%. Group 3 (Dark Chocolate Chip Zucchini Muffins and Bangus Vegetable Shawarma) achieved a final score of 92.25%. Meanwhile, Group 4 (Mango Turon and Pasta à la Espana) attained the highest final score of 92.75%.
The Champion Recipes are Mango Turon and Pasta à la Espana. These winning dishes promote healthy eating and food sustainability by using affordable, locally available ingredients that are easy to prepare, helping reduce food waste while encouraging nutritious, budget-friendly meals for every family.
Overall, the Nutrition Month Celebration 2026 was successfully conducted, reflecting the DOH-DTRC’s continued support and commitment to promoting nutrition awareness, healthy lifestyle practices, and sustainable food choices among its employees. The activity served as a meaningful platform to strengthen the advocacy of "Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan."
