LINGAYEN, Pangasinan (PIA) — Millions of pensioners under the Social Security System will receive an earlier increase in monthly benefits starting June 2026 as part of the government’s Pension Reform Program aimed at cushioning the impact of rising living costs and economic pressures.

The adjustment moves the scheduled September 2026 implementation to June 2026, allowing retirees and other pensioners to receive financial relief sooner amid continued increases in commodity prices and energy-related expenses.

Under the program, retirement and disability pensioners will receive an additional 10 percent increase in their monthly pensions, while survivor pensioners will receive a five percent adjustment.

SSS Dagupan Branch Corporate Executive Officer Joane Garimbao said the increase forms part of a staggered pension enhancement under the reform program implemented over a three-year period.

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan (PIA) — The Social Security System (SSS) is strengthening its enrollment and information campaign targeting jeepney and tricycle drivers, urging them to secure long-term social protection amid rising fuel prices and increasing daily expenses.

The initiative places transport workers at the center of the agency’s push to expand coverage in the informal sector, where income is often unstable and access to social insurance remains limited.

SSS Dagupan Branch Corporate Executive Officer Joane Garimbao said drivers and other self-employed workers are encouraged to treat social security contributions as a form of investment that provides protection during times of need.

“The SSS is here to guide our members to invest. We also consider it an investment for times when the need arises.”

She stressed that membership is open to all Filipinos who earn income, including self-employed workers such as public utility vehicle drivers under the agency’s voluntary coverage program.

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan (PIA) — As high temperatures continue to affect communities across the country, the Department of Health (DOH)-Ilocos Center for Health Development (CHD) is urging Filipinos to regularly monitor their blood pressure (BP).

The DOH warns that prolonged heat exposure and unhealthy lifestyle habits may increase the risk of hypertension and serious complications such as stroke, heart disease, and kidney disease.

Health authorities said extreme heat can place additional stress on the body, particularly the heart and blood vessels, making adults, senior citizens, and individuals with existing medical conditions more vulnerable to elevated blood pressure and related complications.

Patuloy na mararanasan sa Pangasinan ang mapanganib (danger) na antas ng heat index (damang init), ayon ito sa Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Ngayong ika-2 ng Hunyo, inaasahang aabot sa 43°C ang heat index sa lungsod ng Dagupan.

Limitahan ang mga aktibidad sa labas at manatiling hydrated sa pamamagitan ng pag-inom ng maraming tubig.

PANOORIN | Masusing tatalakayin ang kalagayan at kinabukasan ng sektor ng pangisdaan sa isang makabuluhang episode ng Kapihan sa Ilocos ng Philippine Information Agency (PIA), kasama ang Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Region 1.

Alamin ang mga pangunahing programa, serbisyo, at inisyatibang isinusulong ng BFAR upang mapalakas ang kabuhayan ng mga mangingisda, mapangalagaan ang yamang-dagat, at maisulong ang seguridad sa pagkain sa bansa.
