Meanwhile, San Fernando City, La Union posted the highest number of reported vacancies among the reporting locations, with 323 vacancies.

In line with the directives and priorities of DOLE Secretary Francis N. Tolentino, the DOLE Regional Office No. 1 (DOLE RO1) Management Committee (ManCom), led by Regional Director Honorina Dian-Baga, conducted a Strategic Planning and Management Session on August 24, 2026 at DOLE RO1 Conference Room, San Fernando City, La Union.

With the year already underway, the session focused on reviewing current program performance, checking accomplishments against targets, and identifying areas that need improvement.

As an outcome, the ManCom developed action plans to strengthen the implementation of DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP), Government Internship Program (GIP,) Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES), and Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) Program, as well as an action plan for the Technical and Advisory Visit (TAV) Orientations.

RD Baga emphasized the importance of regularly checking progress and taking timely action to address gaps and further improve the delivery of DOLE programs and services in the region.

The Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office 1 (DOLE RO1) formally welcomed its new regional leadership during a Leadership Welcome Ceremony held on August 24, 2026, at the DOLE RO1 Conference Room, anchored on the theme, “Bagong Yugto, Iisang Misyon: Welcoming Our Regional Leadership, Continuing Our Commitment to Public Service.”

The ceremony served as an opportunity to formally introduce Assistant Regional Director Atty. Rio Ariel A. Soriano to the DOLE RO1 workforce and reaffirm the leadership of Regional Director Honorina Dian-Baga, who has been leading the Regional Office since June.

In his message, ARD Soriano expressed his full support for RD Baga, emphasizing his commitment to work alongside her and the entire DOLE RO1 workforce in advancing the Department’s programs and services.

RD Baga, meanwhile, welcomed ARD Soriano to the Regional Office and expressed confidence in working together with him and the DOLE RO1 workforce toward a shared mission of responsive and meaningful public service.

Highlight of the ceremony was the signing of the “Bagong Yugto, Iisang Misyon” Commitment Board, with DOLE RO1 key officials affirming their collective commitment to serve with integrity, work with unity, and move DOLE RO1 forward together.

As DOLE Region 1 moves forward under its strengthened leadership, the Regional Office remains steadfast in pursuing programs and services that respond to the evolving needs of workers and stakeholders in the region.

In line with the directive of Labor Secretary Francis N. Tolentino to strengthen worker protection, the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office No. 1 (DOLE RO1) through its Central Pangasinan Field Office, facilitated through Single Entry Approach (SEnA), the release of ₱1,653,000.00 to 13 security guards of Urduja Security Agency on August 12, 2026, following the termination of its security service contract with the Central Pangasinan Electric Cooperative, Inc. (CENPELCO).

The amount covers the workers’ separation pay, refund of cash bond, and 13th-month pay, ensuring that the affected workers receive their lawful monetary benefits following the end of their employment.

DOLE RO1 Regional Director Honorina Dian-Baga underscored the Department’s commitment to protecting workers’ rights and facilitating the prompt resolution of labor disputes.

Through DOLE SEnA, workers and employers have access to a speedy, accessible, and inexpensive way to resolve labor concerns while promoting fair settlements and harmonious labor-management relations.
