HEAVY RAINS OF UP TO 200 MM EXPECTED IN PARTS OF LUZON UNTIL SEPTEMBER 1

Heavy rains of up to 200 millimeters are expected in parts of Luzon from Saturday through September 1 as the southwest monsoon, or Habagat, continues to affect the country, PAGASA said in its 5 p.m. weather advisory on August 29, 2026.

Today to tomorrow afternoon (August 30)
100–200 mm: Ilocos Sur, Pangasinan, La Union, Benguet, Bataan, Zambales, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, Rizal and Cavite.
50–100 mm: Ilocos Norte, Abra, Apayao, Kalinga, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Nueva Vizcaya, Nueva Ecija, Laguna, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro and Oriental Mindoro.

Tomorrow afternoon to Monday afternoon (August 31)
100–200 mm: Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, Benguet, Zambales and Bataan.
50–100 mm: Apayao, Kalinga, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Nueva Vizcaya, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, Rizal, Cavite, Batangas and Occidental Mindoro.

Monday afternoon to Tuesday afternoon (September 1)
100–200 mm: Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, Benguet and Zambales.

NO FLOOD AT METROPOLITAN CATHEDRAL

The Metropolitan Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Dagupan City remains flood-free as parish priest Rev. Msgr. Manuel Bravo Jr. checks its newly installed drainage and flood control system on Monday.

The church compound, once prone to flooding during heavy rains and high tide, remained dry after the new system was installed. Parishioners helped fund and support the project.
