The Local Government Unit of Dapa under the leadership of Mayor Elizabeth T. Matugas took part in this afternoonโ€™s lively Zumba session at the New Municipal Hall Lobby.

The activity was facilitated by Mr. Tony Espiรฑa together with the Zumba Ladies and was participated in by LGU employees, creating an afternoon filled with energy, fun, and positivity through dance and fitness. ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Mayor Abeth also joined the participants for a photo opportunity following the activity, together with Municipal Administrator Felicitas M. Gonzales, showing their support for programs that promote wellness and camaraderie among employees and the community.

NAVY BRP TAUSUG OFFICIALS VISIT MAYOR ABETH MATUGAS

Officials from the Philippine Navy BRP Tausog, led by CDR Jeffrey Reyes and LCDR Juanito Siddavio Jr., paid a courtesy call on Mayor Elizabeth T. Matugas this afternoon at the Office of the Mayor.

The visit aimed to discuss the upcoming Maritime Inter-Agency Exercise (MIAEX) 2026-01, to be hosted by the Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao in the vicinity of Dapa, Surigao del Norte, particularly at Jubang International Seaport.

The briefing highlighted coordinated efforts to strengthen readiness, security, and inter-agency collaboration in the region.

The Municipality of Dapa proudly welcomed the expedition cruise ship SH Minerva of Swan Hellenic as it made a memorable stop at Corregidor Island through the assistance of Sharp Travel Services (Phils.) Inc., marking its first anchorage in the Philippines following its voyage from Indonesia.

Operated by Swan Hellenic, SH Minerva is a modern expedition cruise vessel built in 2021 with a gross tonnage of approximately 10,500 GT, a length of about 115 meters, and a capacity of up to 152 passengers, supported by around 120 crew members.

Our visitors enjoyed an exclusive island day filled with experiencesโ€”from swimming, snorkeling, and kayaking in pristine waters, to exploring the scenic โ€œLittle Batanesโ€ viewpoint, and simply soaking in the beauty of the coastline. Guests were also treated to local snacks, refreshments, and souvenirs.

The Local Government Unit of Dapa, led by Mayor Elizabeth T. Matugas and Vice Mayor Gerry M. Abejo, together with a representative from the Department of Tourismโ€“Caraga, also boarded the vessel for a plaque exchange ceremony. A plaque of recognition was presented to the vessel, represented by its captain, in appreciation of showcasing the island community to the world. In return, the LGU received a Swan Hellenic plaque as a symbol of partnership and goodwill.

The LGU delegation was given a guided tour of the vessel and was warmly hosted with snacks and refreshments onboard. The activity concluded successfully as SH Minerva departed and continued its voyage.

This visit highlights the growing recognition of the islands as a world-class destination for sustainable tourism and cultural exchange, while also creating meaningful economic opportunities for local communities.

Mayor Elizabeth T. Matugas shared a special moment with her grandson, Alek, as they posed with his impressive catch during the recently concluded 13th Pilar Sports Fishing Cup in Pilar, Siargao. She joined him on the opening day in full support of his participation.

Alek, the youngest angler in the competition, made the family even prouder by securing 3rd place.

๐Ÿ“ข PUBLIC ADVISORY

The Municipality of Dapa informs the public that Corregidor Island will be temporarily closed for the whole day on Monday, May 4, 2026.

This temporary closure is necessary to give way for the arrival and operations of SH Minerva, a luxury expedition cruise ship visiting our municipal waters.

Regular operations will resume, and the island will reopen to the public on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.

We kindly ask for your understanding and cooperation as we ensure the safe and orderly conduct of this activity.
