The Dapitan City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) Drop-In Center was honored to be invited as guest speakers during the Orientation on Peer Support and Anti-Bullying Awareness held on September 7, 2026, at the Dapitan City National High School Conference Hall. The activity gathered the school’s student leaders and Peer Facilitators, who serve as important partners in promoting a safe, supportive, and respectful school environment.

Representing the CSWDO were 𝐌𝐬. 𝐋𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐳𝐚 𝐌𝐚𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐠𝐩𝐢𝐧, 𝐑𝐒𝐖, Social Worker of the CSWDO Drop-In Center, who discussed “𝐵𝑢𝑙𝑙𝑦𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑖𝑛 𝑎 𝑆𝑜𝑐𝑖𝑎𝑙 𝑊𝑜𝑟𝑘 𝐿𝑒𝑛𝑠,” and 𝐌𝐬. 𝐆𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐒𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐭, 𝐑𝐒𝐖, Social Welfare Officer II, who discussed 𝑅𝑒𝑝𝑢𝑏𝑙𝑖𝑐 𝐴𝑐𝑡 𝑁𝑜. 9344 𝑜𝑟 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐽𝑢𝑣𝑒𝑛𝑖𝑙𝑒 𝐽𝑢𝑠𝑡𝑖𝑐𝑒 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑊𝑒𝑙𝑓𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝐴𝑐𝑡, including an awareness discussion on the 𝐴𝑛𝑡𝑖-𝐵𝑎𝑠𝑡𝑜𝑠 𝐿𝑎𝑤. Through their respective topics, the speakers emphasized the importance of understanding bullying and youth-related concerns not only from a disciplinary perspective but also through the lens of child protection, empathy, accountability, intervention, and social support.

The discussion also highlighted the significant role of student leaders and Peer Facilitators in creating a positive school environment. As young leaders, they can become a source of support to their fellow students by listening without judgment, recognizing when someone may be experiencing bullying or other difficulties, encouraging their peers to seek appropriate help, and knowing when to refer concerns to teachers, guidance personnel, or professionals. They were reminded that they do not have to solve every problem themselves, sometimes, being present, listening, and connecting a fellow student to the right person can already make a meaningful difference.

The CSWDO expresses its sincere appreciation to the Dapitan City National High School Guidance and Counseling Office, Peer Facilitators, Guidance Advocates Guild, teachers, and school administrators for the opportunity to share the perspective and role of social workers in promoting child protection, responsible leadership, and a safer school community.

Together, let us continue to empower our young leaders to be the bridge, not the wall; the voice, not the echo, and to help build a school where every student feels seen, safe, respected, and supported. 💚

📢 PANAWAGAN: IMPORMASYON TUNGKOL SA ISANG FOUNDLING NA SANGGOL

Sa mga residente ng Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte at mga karatig-lugar,

Ang City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) Dapitan City ay humihingi ng tulong sa publiko sa paghahanap ng anumang impormasyon tungkol sa isang sanggol na babae (foundling) na pinangalanang (Catalina Banggayan) na natagpuan ni Ginoong Alvin Redilosa Banggayan sa Barangay Linabo, Dapitan City noong Agosto 31, 2026.

Ayon sa ulat ng Barangay Linabo, bandang 3:00 ng madaling-araw, isang sanggol ang natagpuang umiiyak sa likurang bahagi ng Sta. Catalina Chapel. Ang sanggol ay binalot ng dilaw na tuwalya at nilagay sa nakabukas na kahon ng sapatos na kulay kahel (orange) at agad na isinangguni at dinala sa kinauukulang awtoridad para sa wastong pag-aalaga, dokumentasyon, at kaukulang aksyon.

Ang sanggol ay naipagkatiwala sa pangangalaga ng City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) Drop-In Center at kasalukuyang nasa Dr. Jose Rizal Memorial Hospital (DJRMH), Dapitan City, para sa kinakailangang pisikal at medikal na pagsusuri.

Sa sinumang may nalalaman o anumang impormasyon tungkol sa pagkakakilanlan ng sanggol, kanyang mga magulang, kamag-anak, o sinumang maaaring makatulong sa pagtukoy sa kanyang pamilya, mangyaring makipag-ugnayan agad kay Bb. Cheryl A. Torres, RSW (SWO-IV) ng City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) Drop-In Center, Dapitan City.

Ang anumang impormasyong maibabahagi ay mahigpit na pananatilihing kumpidensyal at gagamitin lamang para sa kapakanan at wastong disposisyon ng bata.

Whether you’ve never picked up a racket, stepped on stage, or tried a sport before, this camp is designed especially for beginners who want to explore, discover, and grow.

The BATANG DASIG Free Sports and Arts Summer Camp 2026 is a flagship youth development initiative of the City Government of Dapitan under the leadership of Mayor Evelyn “Belen” T. Uy, aimed at building a strong, sustainable sports and arts culture among young Dapitanons.

This program opens doors for children and youth to discover their potential, whether in sports or in the arts, and become part of the city’s growing pool of future athletes and artists.

🌱 WHY JOIN?
This is more than just a summer activity, it’s a platform for:
✔️ Skill-building and self-discovery
✔️ Developing discipline, creativity, and teamwork
✔️ Learning from qualified coaches and mentors
✔️ Engaging in healthy, productive activities
✔️ Being identified as emerging talents in sports and the arts

At the same time, it helps guide our youth toward positive, meaningful pursuits during the school break, keeping them active, inspired, and focused.

👦👧 WHO CAN JOIN?
Open to all children and youth ages 5–16 years old — BEGINNERS ONLY

For experienced athletes or artists, limited slots may be made available subject to screening and availability.

Those who still wish to be part of the program despite full slots are encouraged to coordinate with the program coaches and may be considered as assistants or volunteers, helping guide and support beginner participants throughout the camp.

Proof of Residency (Photocopy of ID)
– Any valid ID showing Dapitan City address
– If none, submit Parent/Guardian’s ID reflecting Dapitan City residency

The City Government of Dapitan, through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), kicks off the 38th Observance of the Protection and Gender-Fair Treatment of the Girl Child Week from March 22-28, 2026!

This year’s theme, “KATAWAN KO, KARAPATAN KO: Edukasyon Tungo sa Malaya at Ligtas na Pagpapasya”, emphasizes empowering girls through knowledge to make safe, informed choices and uphold their rights.

IEC Advocacy Forum on RA 11313 – Safe Spaces Act (Bawal Bastos Law)
Empowering women leaders for safer communities! ✨
The KALIPI Women’s Association Barangay Presidents, KALIPI Federation Officers, and selected Civil Society Organization (CSO) Presidents of Dapitan City gathered for an IEC Advocacy Forum on RA 11313 – The Safe Spaces Act, strengthening awareness and commitment to promoting safe and respectful spaces for everyone.
We are beyond grateful to all participants for their active engagement and meaningful sharing during the discussion. Special thanks to Hon. John D. Empeynado, Chairman on Economic and Enterprise, for his strong support to our CSOs in the city.
Our sincere appreciation as well to our resource speaker Atty. Meriam Rica W. Quimbo for sharing her valuable knowledge and insights about the Safe Spaces Act, and to Ma’am Monette S. Ruaya-Ahmad, City Local Government Operations Officer, for her continued support and presence.
