The activity was attended by 51 Senior High School and college students and focused on helping students gain a better understanding of career paths and employment opportunities.

The Public Employment Service Office (PESO) shared valuable information and practical insights to guide the students in making informed decisions about their future careers.

The activity provided the students with an opportunity to learn more about the world of work and the various employment opportunities available to them as they prepare for their future.

We thank the Maogma Child Development Center for the invitation and for providing an avenue to empower and inspire the youth toward their career goals.

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), in coordination with the LGU of Daraga and the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), conducted the Technical Advisory Service (TAS) Program.

โ€‹Hon. Mayor Victor U. Perete delivered a special message offering words of encouragement to the students. He emphasized that for employers, the program helps reduce the risk of disputes, penalties, accidents, operational disruptions, and reputational damage. For workers, it strengthens the protection of wages, benefits, dignity, health, and safety.

Daraga PESO Manager Rey Josef R. Lawenko thanked DOLE Bicol for conducting this orientation emphasizing the need for business establishments to be constantly updated on the prevailing labor standards and occupational safety and health standards..

โ€‹Ms. Lady Andrea Vega, Labor and Employment Officer III from DOLE Bicol discussed Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHS), explaining that these are mandatory rules formulated by DOLE to protect every worker against injury, sickness, or death in the workplace.

โ€‹Mr. Joje J. Ruivivar, Labor and Employment Officer from DOLE Bicol addressed General Labor Standards (GLS), which are the statutory minimum requirements prescribed by the Philippine Labor Code and related laws regarding wages, working hours, statutory benefits, and terms of employment.

โ€‹Sir Alvin Dacallos, Labor and Employment Officer III also from DOLE Bicol educated participants on workplace hazard awareness, risk prevention, and emergency response. This awareness is a mandatory requirement under DOLE OSHS to ensure a secure work environment.

A total of 105 participants attended the event. The said participants came from various business establishments of Daraga namely from retail, banking, food, hotel and informal sector.

โ€‹In conclusion, the program serves as both a compliance mechanism and a capacity-building initiative. Through workplace visits, assessments, education, and corrective guidance, it helps employers translate labor regulations into everyday practices. Its long-term value lies in preventing violations, improving working conditions, and fostering a shared responsibility for lawful, fair, productive, and safe employment.
