SVGHS Boosts Gender-Responsive Education Through Two-Day GAD & PFA Seminar
San Vicente Grande High School conducted a two-day Gender and Development (GAD) entitled, "Capacity Building on Gender Development Analysis and Mainstreaming with PFA”i on November 6–7, 2025, supporting DepEd’s Gender-Responsive Basic Education Policy and its mandate to promote gender equality and protect learners from gender-based violence (GBV).
Among the resource speakers during the first day were Atty. Eleaza Marie Encisa who discussed the psychological effects of GBV and highlighted the need for a survivor-centered approach and proper legal referrals.
Ms. Czarina Mae Cantorne presented key gender-related laws and emphasized equal treatment and safe reporting procedures.
GAD and PFA foundations were further explained by Dr. Rowena Gabrillo, who clarified misconceptions on gender roles. Mr. Christian Antiquiera addressed gender stereotyping and the importance of improving policies that protect all genders.
On the second day, school nurses led sessions on Psychological First Aid (PFA). Nurse Sherry Andrino, Nurse Merli Casile, Nurse Allyn Loneza, and Nurse June Villavicencio facilitated activities on emotional expression, trauma response, and coping skills. A symbolic paper-plane activity helped participants “release” burdens and promote healing.
The seminar ended with strengthened awareness on gender equality, legal protection, and emotional support—advancing DepEd’s goal of a safe and inclusive school environment.
