The Local Government Unit of Daram proudly joins the nationwide observance of Breastfeeding Awareness Month 2026, reaffirming its commitment to promoting, protecting, and supporting breastfeeding as the best start in life for every child and a vital investment in healthier families and communities.

🤱 Para kay Baby: Tamang nutrisyon at lakas laban sa sakit.
🏡 Para sa Pamilya: Ligtas at nakatitipid sa araw-araw na gastusin.
🌿 Para sa Kalikasan: Walang basurang naiiwan sa kapaligiran.
"Sa bawat sandali ng pagpapasuso, hindi lang si baby ang lumalakas, nabubuo rin ang isang matatag na pundasyon para sa kanyang malusog na kinabukasan! ✨
Gawing prayoridad ang pagpapasuso:
👶 Exclusive breastfeeding lamang sa unang 6 na buwan.
🥣 Pagsapit ng ika-6 na buwan, simulan ang complementary feeding habang patuloy ang pagpapasuso hanggang 2 taon o higit pa.
🚫 Iwasan ang formula milk at iba pang breastmilk substitutes.

The Municipality of Daram successfully concluded the 52nd Nutrition Month Celebration on July 28, 2026 at the Cultural Center, Poblacion 1, Daram, Samar, with this year's theme: "Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan!"
The culmination program highlighted the importance of proper nutrition and environmental stewardship through fun, educational, and engaging competitions that showcased the talents and creativity of our participants.
The activities included the Nutri Quiz Bee, where six (6) pairs of LGU Street Cleaners demonstrated their knowledge on nutrition; the Masustansyang Pagkaing-Dagat Cooking Contest, participated in by five (5) mothers or titas or lolas who prepared nutritious and delicious seafood dishes; and the Trash to Treasure Functional Gardening Contest, joined by Daram National High School and Bagacay National High School, featuring innovative gardens made from recycled materials.
Congratulations to Ms. Jenny Baldesco, champion of the Masustansyang Pagkaing-Dagat Cooking Contest, for her winning menu consisting of Seafood Fried Rice, Relyenong Pusit, and Seafood Corn Soup. Likewise, congratulations to Bagacay National High School, represented by Mr. Sam Quijano, for winning the Trash to Treasure Functional Gardening Contest with their impressive "Mini Vertical Garden" made from scrap and recycled materials.
The Municipal Nutrition Committee (MNC) of Daram, headed by Hon. Lucia Latorre-Astorga, extends its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated and supported the successful celebration of this year's Nutrition Month. Special thanks to the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), Local Youth Development Office (LYDO), Internal Auditor Services, Tourism Office, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), Municipal Local Government Operation Office (MLGOO), Daram School District I, and Daram School District II for their invaluable assistance and cooperation.

In celebration of the 52nd Nutrition Month with the theme, "Nutrisyon at Kalikasan Ating Pangalagaan!", the Municipal Nutrition Committee (MNC), headed by Hon. Lucia Latorre-Astorga, successfully conducted a Coast Clean-Up Drive on the morning of July 21, 2026. The activity commenced with an assembly and brief orientation at the Municipal Baywalk followed by a Zumba session that promoted physical activity and encouraged participants to embrace healthy lifestyles before proceeding with the clean-up activity.

The participants then carried out the Coastal Clean-Up Drive along the diversion road from Poblacion 1 to Poblacion 2, demonstrating their collective commitment to environmental cleanliness as an essential component of good nutrition and overall well-being. Refreshments were served after the activity. A total of 71 participants joined the event, including LGU employees, local residents, street cleaners, and uniformed personnel, reflecting the community's strong support for the Nutrition Month celebration.

The Municipal Nutrition Committee extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Daram Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Daram Sub-Station, and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), 63rd Infantry Battalion, 8th Infantry Division, Philippine Army, for their invaluable support and special participation. The Committee also expresses its sincere appreciation to the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), headed by For. Jomar M. Cahusay, for facilitating the successful implementation of this meaningful activity. Through the collective efforts of all participants and partner agencies, the activity reinforced the importance of protecting both nutrition and the environment for a healthier, cleaner, and more sustainable community.

HAPPY 128TH INDEPENDENCE DAY PILIPINAS!

Today, the Local Government Unit of Daram proudly commemorated the 128th Philippine Independence Day with the theme, “Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan.”

The celebration brought together representatives from the Daram Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Army, Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and various municipal offices, including the Mayor’s Office, MDRRMO, IAS, MCR, Assessor’s Office, Municipal Budget Office, Treasury Office, MPDO, Sangguniang Bayan Office, and the Municipal Trial Court.

The program commenced with an opening prayer led by Mr. Nathan Abinguna, followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem. An inspiring message was delivered by Hon. Vice Mayor Ryan Philip Astorga, highlighting the importance of preserving the nation’s freedom and continuing to build a better future for generations to come. The ceremony concluded with the heartfelt rendition of “Pilipinas Kong Mahal,” reaffirming our love and commitment to our country.

As we honor the sacrifices of our heroes, may we continue to uphold the values of patriotism, unity, and service for the progress of Daram and the nation.
