The Story of Kababayan ko Mahal ko.
We are a group of like minded individuals who have recognized the fact that Government Resources might not be enough or not forthcoming to handle the basic needs of our kababayans amidst this COVID-19 crisis. This has become apparent to us when inadequate assistance were being distributed within our barangay. Countless blames, opinions, suggestions, complaints, etc is the order of the day. It seems that every Juan has his own opinion in how things should be done, but at the end of the day its just lip service for most of us. This became a challenge for us to act since the impression that we have at the time is that adequate government assistance or service is simply not coming soon. A challenge for us to TALK THE TALK and WALK THE WALK.
Thus during a huddle with my friends Rodney Sabanal, Olie Rillo, and Romel Princesa spawned the initiative to assist our kababayans by bonding together and pooling our talent and resources to provide relief to those affected. All of us agreed that the organization should be devoid of any political affiliation or influence so as not to hamper our operation and avoid the “complications” any politically affiliated NGOs experience. An organization whose sole purpose is to help our kababayans survive this crisis with their dignity intact, period.
In homage to a popular tv charity show titled Kapwa ko Mahal ko, we all agreed to call the organization KABABAYAN KO MAHAL KO. A simple and almost informal organization with a very simple and modest objective. Solicit funds from friends, classmates, relatives, here and abroad for a token sum of money to purchase relief goods for our kababayans that are affected by the quarantine. Implement this initiative within our immediate vicinity only. Initially a modest and manageable number of 50 families will be our first objective. Provide them with the basic necessities to the best of our ability and afterwards assess if it is a worthwhile endeavor to continue and expand or just cease with this social experiment. Our rallying cry is to Keep it simple but effective. As the saying goes, The Rest is History.
