TRIVIA | Did You Know?

Naic, Cavite is one of the oldest towns in the province, founded on February 7, 1577 by Spanish Governor-General Francisco de Sande. Its name is believed to have come from the word "naic-naic," meaning "bamboo clumps," reflecting the area's lush natural landscape during the Spanish era.

Today, Naic remains a town rich in history, preserving its heritage through centuries-old landmarks and its important role in the story of Cavite and the Philippines.

Foodie Friday: Sinudsod ng Cavite

Ang Sinudsod ay isang tradisyunal na kakanin na kilala sa Cavite, partikular sa Naic, at karaniwang ginagawa mula sa malagkit na bigas, bahaw, gata, asukal, at iba pang sangkap. Ang pangalan nito ay nagmula sa salitang “sudsod,” o pagkayod/pagscrape sa nilutong kakanin mula sa kawali. Itinuturing itong bahagi ng culinary heritage ng Naic at karaniwang kinakain bilang malamig na merienda.

Fun Fact: Mayroon ding ibang bersyon ng sinudsod sa Amadeo, Cavite, kung saan gabi ang pangunahing sangkap.

PURPOSIVE STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT FOR THE FINALIZATION OF SIPS RECOMMITMENT CEREMONIES AND PROMOTION OF WPS ADVOCACY

CAVITE — 2lt Annie Rose Y Raluta, Platoon Leader of the unit, under the leadership of Cpt Karen F Bernardino, Commanding Officer, conducted purposive stakeholder engagements with key local government officials and concerned stakeholders in the municipalities of Alfonso, Mendez-Nuñez, and Silang, Cavite.

The engagements resulted in the finalization and coordination of the schedule for the Stable Internal Peace and Security (SIPS) Recommitment Ceremonies, while strengthening collaboration between the unit and concerned local government units in sustaining peace, security, and community resilience.

During the coordination, the Municipal Local Government Operations Officers (MLGOOs) were likewise encouraged to facilitate the display of West Philippine Sea (WPS) advocacy materials in strategic and highly visible areas within their respective municipalities. The initiative aims to enhance public awareness of the country’s maritime rights and interests and strengthen patriotic consciousness among residents.

The activity highlights the importance of sustained stakeholder engagement and strong local partnerships in advancing peace and security initiatives and promoting public awareness on matters of national interest.

🦋 PARUPARO FESTIVAL TRIVIA

ALAM MO BA?

Ang Paruparo Festival ay opisyal na pagdiriwang ng Dasmariñas City at ipinagdiriwang tuwing Nobyembre 26, kasabay ng paggunita sa anibersaryo ng pagiging lungsod nito.

Ang paruparo ay sumisimbolo sa pagbabago, pag-unlad, at transformation. Tulad ng paruparong dumaraan sa metamorphosis mula itlog, uod, at chrysalis bago maging ganap na paruparo ganito rin inilalarawan ang pag-unlad ng Dasmariñas mula sa isang simpleng pamayanan tungo sa isang maunlad na lungsod.

Unang inilunsad ang festival noong Nobyembre 26, 2011, sa ikalawang anibersaryo ng pagiging lungsod ng Dasmariñas.

SATURDAY TRIVIA: TRIBUNAL NG NOBELETA

ALAM MO BA?

Sa Noveleta, Cavite, matatagpuan ang isang makasaysayang lugar na naging saksi sa mahahalagang pangyayari noong Himagsikang Pilipino ng 1896—ang Tribunal ng Nobeleta.

Noong Agosto 31, 1896, sa bulwagan ng dating Tribunal ng Nobeleta, pinatay ni Heneral Pascual Alvarez ng Sanggunian Magdiwang si Kapitan Antonio Rebolledo ng Guardia Civil, sa ilalim ng pamumuno ni Mariano Alvarez, ang Punong Bayan. Napatay rin si Tenyente Francisco Naval, na ayudante ni Rebolledo. Ang kanilang mga kawal na kasama ay binihag ng mga naghimagsik.

Ang pangyayaring ito ay naging bahagi ng mga kaganapang nagpaalab sa Himagsikan sa Kabite.

Matatagpuan ang historical marker sa Gen. Antonio Street, Noveleta, Cavite. Ito ay inilagay noong Agosto 31, 1964 ng Philippines Historical Committee.

Ang dating gusaling nagsilbing tribunal ay hindi lamang isang lumang istruktura. Ito ay naging saksi sa isang mahalagang yugto ng kasaysayan ng Cavite at ng pakikibaka ng mga Pilipino para sa kalayaan.

Alam mo ba? Ang boneless tinapang bangus na ginagawa sa Cavite ay isang convenient na bersyon ng tradisyunal na tinapa—pinagsasama ang bangus na maingat na inalisan ng tinik at tradisyunal na proseso ng pagpapausok upang makuha ang katangi-tanging malinamnam at smoky na lasa.

Higit pa sa masarap na ulam, ang paggawa ng mga processed fish products tulad ng tinapang bangus ay nagbibigay ng dagdag na halaga sa lokal na produkto at nagsisilbing pagkakakitaan ng mga lokal na producer at komunidad sa Cavite.
