: Ambassador ENDO Kazuya shares a special message for the 70th Japan-Philippines Friendship Day! 🇯🇵🤝🇵🇭

On 31 July 2026, Ambassador ENDO reflected on seven decades of enduring friendship between Japan and the Philippines. He highlighted how deep economic cooperation, enhanced security partnership, and vibrant people-to-people exchanges have propelled our ties forward into a future-oriented Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, ushering in an era of peace, prosperity, and endless possibilities.

On July 27, ConGen ONO attended the closing ceremony organized by the International Federation of Universities (I.F.U) for the Japanese students who participated in a short-term exchange program in Davao City. 🌍📚

During the ceremony, ConGen ONO congratulated the students for their accomplishments and wished them all the best in their future endeavors.

The students, for their part, shared their experiences during their stay and were grateful for the hospitality of the Filipinos who received them.

The I.F.U provides Japanese students with opportunities to broaden their global perspectives through cross-cultural experiences and international engagement. One of its main goals is to inspire interest in the English language while promoting mutual understanding through study abroad programs. In 2022, I.F.U opened a branch office in Davao City, further strengthening educational and cultural exchanges between Japan and the Philippines.

▶️𝗧𝗛𝗥𝗢𝗪𝗕𝗔𝗖𝗞 to the prize dinner hosted by ConGen ONO for Ms. Kim Beryl Fernandez and her family, in recognition of her victory in the 𝗝𝗣-𝗣𝗛 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗢𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲. This Cooking Challenge was organized by the Consulate General of Japan in Davao as part of the celebration of the 70th Anniversary of Friendship between Japan and the Philippines. 🇯🇵🤝🇵🇭

⛳On July 25, Consul General ONO attended the 2nd Davao-Japan Friendship Golf Tournament held at Rancho Palos Verdes Golf and Country Club.

Officially endorsed as a commemorative event for the Philippines-Japan Friendship Year, marking the 70th Anniversary of the Normalization of Diplomatic Relations between Japan and the Philippines, the tournament brought together golf enthusiasts and friends from both countries for a day of sportsmanship, camaraderie, and friendship.

Organized by the Davao Hotel and Resorts Sales and Marketing Association (HRSMA), with the support of the City Government of Davao, and the Department of Tourism Region XI, the event welcomed approximately 100 participants and provided a wonderful opportunity to further strengthen the enduring bonds between Japan and Davao. 🤝

I would like to extend my sincere gratitude for the warm messages of sympathy and solidarity we have received from people around the world, including the leaders of a number of countries, following the 2026 Kumamoto Earthquake. The encouragement from all of you has been a tremendous source of courage for the people of Japan. I would also like to express my heartfelt appreciation for the offers of support we have received from numerous countries and international organizations so far. The Government of Japan is working in earnest to carry out rescue operations and provide assistance to the affected areas. As we continue to assess the situation and needs on the ground, we will carefully consider how the generous offers of support can best be utilized. Once again, I would like to express my deep gratitude for your kind messages of support and offers of assistance.

On July 24, Consul General ONO joined members of the Davao Okinawa Friendship Tour organized by the Okinawa Davao Association, including bereaved family members visiting Davao to honor their loved ones.

He attended the Memorial Service at Mintal Public Cemetery and later joined the fellowship dinner, where he had the opportunity to exchange views and engage in meaningful discussions with the participants led by Mr. UEHARA Kiyoshi, Advisor to the Okinawa Davao Association.

On July 18, Consul General Ono attended the Grand Opening Ceremony of the Hampas Lupa Golf Driving Range in Ma-a, Davao City.
Joining the event were Hampas Lupa executives, as well as Councilor Richlyn N. Justol-Baguilod, Chairperson of the Committee on Women, Children, and Family Relations, who delivered Mayor Hon. Sebastian Duterte’s message on behalf of the City Government.

As part of the celebration, Consul General Ono also participated in the ceremonial tee-off, marking the official opening of the new golf facility. 🏌️
