Los Amigos Elementary School embarks on its WinS journey through division validation
Marking an important milestone in its commitment to a clean and healthy learning environment, Los Amigos Elementary School underwent its first Division Validation for the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene in Schools (WinS) Citation Appreciation for the 2025–2026 school year on March 24, 2026.
As a developing implementer of the WinS program, the school welcomed the validation team with preparedness and determination, showcasing its initial efforts in promoting proper hygiene, sanitation, and learner welfare.
School Head Sir Jim Boy E. Tubigon expressed strong support for the initiative, stating, “The school supports the WinS program because it truly promotes the overall well-being of our learners and school personnel by fostering healthy habits, positive behavior, and a supportive learning environment.”
The validation was led by Juvelyn P. Rongcales, RN, Ryl May E. Ferolino, RN, and Maricel G. Ando, RN, with the assistance of Tugbok West district nurse Anna Leah L. Salvado, RN, and Raymond O. Baquial, RN, who conducted a comprehensive assessment of the school’s compliance with WinS standards.
Among the key areas evaluated were the availability and functionality of handwashing facilities, cleanliness and accessibility of restrooms, proper waste segregation and disposal, and the integration of hygiene education into daily school routines. Despite being new to the program, the school demonstrated promising practices and a strong willingness to improve.
Learners actively participated during the validation process, confidently demonstrating proper handwashing techniques and awareness of hygiene practices—an indication of the school’s growing culture of health and discipline.
The activity also highlighted the vital role of collaboration among teachers, parents, and community stakeholders in sustaining a safe and health-supportive school environment. In particular, the school’s WinS program owes its progress to the dedicated commitment of its teachers and coordinators, including Madelene D. Estolas (WinS Coordinator), Kristina Marie B. Deonaldo (Solid Waste Management System), Rodelyn Botoy (Clinic In-Charge), Sheryl Ann S. Fandialan (Wellness and Gulayan sa Paaralan), Blesel D. Botoy (Canteen In-Charge), Isagani M.
