PSDS Marcelo Conducts Monitoring Visit at Wireless Elementary School

Public Schools District Supervisor Marilyn Marcelo conducted a monitoring visit at Wireless Elementary School, to assess school safety and security measures, Contingency Plan implementation, and overall school operations.

Ma'am Marcelo, together with District Nurse Krisaint Yu and District Dentist Bai Nurhayah A. Pendatun, inspected learning spaces and support facilities, including classrooms, the school clinic, the SLRC and Reading Center, the ICT laboratory, and other ancillary areas, to ensure a safe, orderly, and conducive learning environment.

As part of their health advocacy, the monitoring team turned over soaps and essential medicines to the school clinic, received by clinic in-charge Cherry Mae Veloso.

As part of her visit, Ma'am Marcelo engaged with learners inside their classrooms — asking how they were doing and how they felt in school. In a firm yet motherly reminder, she encouraged learners to choose kindness and understanding. "In this school, you are family. A family does not hurt, does not bully, and does not leave anyone behind," she emphasized.

After the walk-through, PSDS Marcelo proceeded to the principal's office, where she joined School Principal Anthony C. Batocael and the teaching staff in a meeting. While the monitoring put premium on school safety and Contingency Plan readiness, providing technical assistance to ensure the plan is responsive, child-centered, and aligned with DepEd guidelines, the discussion also covered equally important priorities.

Ma'am Marcelo also advised the school to further strengthen its Parenting Counseling Program as a proactive and preventive measure against possible bullying and school violence. She emphasized that understanding a child requires understanding the home environment that shapes him.

“We cannot mold a child alone. We need to sit down with the parents, listen to them, and guide them. What the child manifests in school is often a reflection of what is happening at home,” she said. She reiterated that the family and the school share one common mission — to raise children who are not only academically competent but also compassionate and disciplined.

Further, she reminded teachers to practice understanding and empathy towards colleagues — listening without judgment, extending help in difficult times, and choosing kindness over criticism.
"Let us be gentle with one another. We all carry battles no one sees. If we learn to understand our fellow teachers, we create a more compassionate and harmonious workplace for everyone, including our learners," she added.

The school, led by School Principal Anthony C. Batocael, expressed heartfelt gratitude to PSDS Marcelo and her team for their guidance and support — valuable insights that will further strengthen the school's programs on learner welfare, academic excellence, safety, and values formation.

KEY STAGE 1 AGILA NOMINEE | DAVAO CENTRAL DISTRICT
MAE D. RODRIGO, School ELLN Coordinator
Wireless Elementary School

With 20 years of teaching experience in private and public schools, Mae D. Rodrigo has devoted her life to the noblest profession—teaching with heart, patience, and purpose. She has completed academic units in the Master of Education, Major in Instructional Leadership, and is currently taking a refresher course to complete the program—a testament to her commitment to lifelong learning and professional growth.

Teacher Mae is the kind of teacher who believes that every child can read, and every child deserves a chance. She is known for her compassion, consistency, and quiet dedication. She does not just teach reading; she builds confidence, restores hope, and lights the way for learners who struggle. In the words of a parent, “Ma’am Mae never gave up on my child. The super hero teacher!Daghan salamat jud kayo maam Mae sa pag guide sa akoa anak, naa jud syay prohgress. She patiently guided him until he could read on his own.” Colleagues describe her as a mentor and a dependable partner — always ready to share, to guide, and to lead.

As School ELLN Coordinator, Reading Center In-charge, ARAL Focal Person, and School Information Officer, she has turned challenges into innovations that truly work. She spearheaded the transformation of the Reading Center into a safe, vibrant, and multisensory learning space. She initiated Project S.U.L.B.A.D. with its Tracking, Monitoring, and Assessment Tools now used school-wide to guide targeted intervention; Project SENSE-LIT, a multisensory program for learners with Learning Disability, Dyslexia, and Dysgraphia; and her action research CPA-BRIDGES, which recorded a 100% success rate — all Grade 2 Emergent Readers became Developing Readers with Low Risk based on CRLA End-of-School-Year results. Through CPR and TECH (Continuous Practice at Home and Technology), she sustained learning beyond the classroom and strengthened parent engagement.

Beyond literacy, her leadership is felt in the beautification of the Reading Center and its mural of sight words and best practices, in LAC sessions that capacitate fellow teachers, and in her compassion during crisis — leading donation drives for fire-affected families in Barangay 5-A and 6-A and providing school supplies for learners in need. “Si Ma’am Mae dili lang maestra, apil siya sa komunidad nga andam motabang,” shared a parent-beneficiary.
Recently informed of her promotion to Teacher III, this milestone affirms what the school community already knows — Teacher Mae is a candle that consumes itself to light the way for others.

She is more than a teacher. She is a reader's guide, a learner's hope, and a believer that every child can read.

Basta WES, the BEST! One Goal, One Team.

In preparation for the competition, the learners went through training sessions — practicing, revising, and learning the basics of their respective categories. Step by step, they showed improvement in their outputs and in their confidence.

During the division press conference, they experienced what it is like to compete with other schools and to work under time pressure. It was not easy, but they faced it with courage and did their best to apply what they learned from their training. In the competition, they gained valuable experience that they can bring to their next activities.

The experience taught them lessons that go beyond winning — discipline, teamwork, and perseverance.

The school recognizes the effort of its campus journalists and their coaches for their time and dedication. Their journey does not end here. Every experience is a stepping stone, every lesson is a preparation for something greater. WES will continue to nurture young voices, to hone their talents, and to come back stronger — because at WES, we learn, we grow, and we never stop trying.

Congratulations Campus Journalists!

WES JOINS 3RD NATIONWIDE SIMULTANEOUS EARTHQUAKE DRILL

Learners Participate from Home, Demonstrate Earthquake Preparedness

Wireless Elementary School successfully participated in the 3rd Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) held on September 10, 2026, with learners joining the activity from their respective homes.

Prior to the scheduled drill, learners together with their parents and guardians were encouraged to take part and observe prescribed earthquake safety measures.

During the drill, learners properly demonstrated the Duck, Cover, and Hold procedure as a means of protecting themselves from falling objects and other earthquake-related hazards. They were also reminded to stay calm, identify safe areas within their homes, and observe appropriate safety protocols during and after an earthquake.

The school's participation was facilitated, supervised, and monitored by the Wireless Elementary School SDRRM Team, led by Mr. Anthony C. Batocael, School Principal, and Ana U. Mamhot, SDRRM Coordinator. The team provided instructions and reminders, encouraged active participation from learners and families, and documented the conduct of the drill.

Conducting the activity at home enabled learners to apply their knowledge and skills in earthquake preparedness within their own living environments. It also highlighted the vital role of families in promoting disaster awareness, safety, and readiness.

Although the drill was held during the semester break, learners were still able to participate and put into practice the earthquake safety knowledge they had acquired. The successful participation of WES in the 3rd NSED reflects the school community's sustained commitment to strengthening disaster preparedness, safety, and resilience.

Basta WES, the BEST! Laging Handa!
