๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ | Barangay Leaders at the Forefront of Universal Health Care and YAKAP Implementation in Davao de Oro!
NABUNTURAN, Davao de Oro - Stronger communities begin with informed and empowered leaders. As frontline public servants, barangay officials play a vital role in ensuring that every Filipino has access to quality healthcare and social protection services.
In partnership with the Provincial Government of Davao de Oro and the Liga ng mga BarangayโDavao de Oro Chapter, the Local Health Insurance Office (LHIO) Nabunturan successfully conducted the Universal Health Care (UHC) and Yaman ng Kalusugan Program (YAKAP) Orientation for Barangay Officials of Davao de Oro on July 14 and 16, 2026. The two-batch activity was held at Cafe Noventa, Nabunturan, Davao de Oro. Participants were composed of Barangay Captains and Barangay Councilors for Health from the municipalities of Maco, Mawab, Monkayo, Montevista, and Compostela. The orientation aimed to strengthen their understanding of the Universal Health Care (UHC) Law, the Yaman ng Kalusugan Program (YAKAP) and YAKAP GAMOT, enabling them to effectively champion healthcare initiatives and services within their respective communities.
Through the orientation, participants gained valuable insights into their roles and responsibilities in supporting the implementation of UHC and promoting PhilHealth programs at the grassroots level. The activity also served as a platform for collaboration and dialogue among local leaders, reinforcing their commitment to ensuring that no constituent is left behind when it comes to accessing essential health services. With empowered barangay officials leading the way, Davao de Oro continues to move closer to the vision of a healthier, more inclusive, and more resilient province for all.
