Davao City Airshed

Davao City Airshed An airshed is a part of the atmosphere that behaves in a coherent way with respect to the dispersion of emissions.

For an effective air quality management, an airshed shall be established to be managed by multi-sectoral governing boards which are tasked to formulate policies and standards as well as actions plans to manage air quality situations within its area. An airshed refers to areas with common weather or meteorological conditions and sources of air pollution which affect the interchange and diffusion of

pollution in the surrounding atmosphere. Pursuant to RULE XV, Section 2 of the Philippine Clean Air Act of 1999, Davao City was officially designated as an airshed on February 12, 2003 thru Memorandum Circular 2003-02. The reason for the establishment of Davao City as an Airshed of Region XI is because Davao City is a highly urbanized area and the economic hub of Region. It has an area of about 244,000 hectares which is 8% of the total land area of Southern Mindanao Region or Region XI (Source: LGU-Davao City)

Based on the 2015 population census, the city has a total population of 1, 632, 991(Source: www.psa.gov.ph).
