The Consulate General of Malaysia was pleased to welcome a delegation from Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) led by Mr. Wan Muhamad Farid Firdaus, Lecturer from the Faculty of Medicine and comprised 10 UniSZA students together with 10 students from Cotabato Regional and Medical Center (CRMC) during a courtesy visit to the Chancery Office on 29 July 2026.

The delegation forms part of the Global SULAM and Flexible Education with SOUL (FLEXS) Programme, conducted in collaboration with CRMC from 26 until 29 July 2026. The programme provided valuable opportunities for academic exchange, community engagement and knowledge sharing through discussions on healthcare services, medical education and future institutional collaboration.

Throughout the programme, the delegation participated in community-based initiatives, including the "Dugo Mo, Buhay Ko: Isang Patak, Isang Pag-asa" Community Blood Donation Programme and the "Purga and Simula, Sigla and Bunga" Community Deworming Programme, while working alongside Family Medicine residents and Barangay Health Workers. UniSZA also conducted Aquatic Life Support (AqLS) and Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) workshops for CRMC healthcare professionals, further strengthening medical capacity-building efforts.

The Consulate General of Malaysia commends UniSZA and CRMC for their commitment to fostering academic excellence, healthcare innovation, and meaningful Malaysia – Philippines cooperation in medical education and community service.

MEETING WITH DAVAO CITY INVESTMENT AND PROMOTION CENTER (DCIPC)

On 29 July 2026, Consul General of Malaysia, Mr. Deddy Faisal Ahmad Salleh welcomed representatives from the Davao City Investment and Promotion Center (DCIPC) led by Acting Officer-in-Charge, Mr. Christian D. Cambaya for a meeting at the Chancery Office.

The discussion centered on the upcoming Davao Global Connect 2026 (DGC 2026) and the 1st Davao – Borneo Growth Corridor Forum to be held on 19 September 2026 at the SMX Convention Center, Davao City under the theme "Forging Partnerships, Shaping Shared Futures."

The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views on strengthening economic cooperation, promoting trade and investment and enhancing regional connectivity between Malaysia, Davao City and the wider BIMP-EAGA region. DGC 2026 is envisioned as a strategic platform to bring together government leaders, investors, businesses and development partners to foster meaningful collaborations and unlock new economic opportunities.

The Consulate General of Malaysia looks forward to continued collaboration with DCIPC in advancing shared prosperity and reinforcing the longstanding partnership between Malaysia and the Philippines.

LUNCH WITH MAYBANK PHILIPPINES

On 28 July 2026, Consul General of Malaysia, Mr. Deddy Faisal Ahmad Salleh attended a luncheon hosted by President and CEO of Maybank Philippines Incorporated, Mr. Patrick Dennis L. Solosa at the Mandayaw Restaurant, Dusit Thani Hotel & Residence, Davao City.

The gathering served as an excellent opportunity to foster closer relations and discuss areas of mutual cooperation. Also in attendance were Mr. Jun Lacang, Ms. Deng Castro, Ms. Mellisa Christabel Chia and Mr. Muhammad Ikhwan Ariff Muhammad Yusoff.

OPENING DU'A FOR BARAKAH OF UNIVERSAL HALAL HUB INC.

On 28 July 2026, Consul General of Malaysia, Mr. Deddy Faisal Ahmad Salleh attended the Opening Du'a for Barakah of Universal Halal Hub Inc. held at the Magradeco Building Magallanes, Pelayo Street, Davao City. The event was held under the theme "From Vision to Reality: Launching the Philippines' Gateway to Halal Products, Trade, Investment and Innovation."

Universal Halal Hub Inc. was established with the vision of creating a collaborative platform that brings together halal entrepreneurs, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), government agencies, investors, industry stakeholders and international partners to promote sustainable economic growth and strengthen the Philippines' position within the global halal industry.

The event also celebrated the strong foundation laid during the 11th Philippine Halal Trade and Tourism Expo 2026, where Universal Halal Hub Inc. was officially introduced as a catalyst for halal business development, innovation, investment and international collaboration.

The Consulate General of Malaysia welcomes initiatives that promote greater regional cooperation and the advancement of the halal ecosystem. Such efforts contribute to enhancing trade and investment opportunities while fostering stronger partnerships between Malaysia, Philippines and other international stakeholders in the rapidly growing global halal industry.
