Driving Regional Progress: Davao City Commits to DRDP Priorities

"The City Government of Davao hosted the final leg of the Department of Economy, Planning and Development (DEPDev) XI's regional communication and advocacy campaign, entitled "Cascading of the Key Strategies, Priorities, and Targets of the Davao Regional Development Plan (DRDP) 2023–2028 Midterm Update to Davao Region LGUs and Stakeholders," on July 8, 2026.

The advocacy activity sought to strengthen the commitment of the City Government of Davao, led by its Local Chief Executive, represented by the City Administrator’s Office and the Planning and Development Office, together with the City Councilors, other department heads, the Commission on Population and Development XI, the DepEd-Davao City Schools Division, and key stakeholders, in advancing the priority strategies of the updated DRDP. It also aimed to align local plans, programs, and investments with the region's critical development indicators, particularly on poverty incidence, agriculture, education, health and nutrition, and teenage pregnancy, to accelerate inclusive and sustainable development in the Davao Region."

2026 Nutrition Month: Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan!

For the 2026, the 52nd Nutrition Month Celebration (NMC) continues the thrust of last year's theme, "Sa PPAN: Sama-sama sa Nutrisyong Sapat Para sa Lahat!", with this year's sub-theme: "Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan!"

The sub-theme serves as a call to action for government agencies, local government units, civil society organizations, the private sector, and communities to work together in protecting both human health and the environment.

This focus builds on the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) 2023–2028 programs that promote sustainable and nutrition-sensitive food systems. It highlights the vital connection between nutrition and the environment, emphasizing that protection of natural resources is essential to ensuring sustainable food systems, food security, and good nutrition for present and future generations.

The 2026 Nutrition Month theme is likewise aligned with the Regional Development Plan (RDP) 2023–2028, particularly Subchapter 5.1: Ensure Food Security and Proper Nutrition.
Together, let us protect our environment and promote better nutrition for all – because a healthier future begins with a healthier planet.

With this year's theme, "𝑵𝒂𝒈𝒉𝒂𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒂 𝒂𝒕 𝑲𝒖𝒎𝒊𝒌𝒊𝒍𝒐𝒔 𝑻𝒖𝒏𝒈𝒐 𝒔𝒂 𝑷𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒂𝒈 𝒏𝒂 𝑩𝒂𝒈𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝑷𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒔," DEPDev reaffirms the importance of proactive planning, evidence-based policymaking, and whole-of-government collaboration in reducing disaster risks and building resilient communities.

Aligned with the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2023–2028, the government continues to integrate disaster risk reduction, climate resilience, and adaptive development strategies into national and regional development planning.

Through sound policies and strategic investments, the government remains committed to supporting efforts that safeguard lives, protect livelihoods, and foster a more resilient and future-ready Philippines.

LOOK | Davao Region Sustains Development in 2025

"The report highlighted strong performance in education, governance, administration of justice, social infrastructure, and energy, reflecting sustained improvements in the delivery of public services and support systems across Davao Region.

Meanwhile, the areas that require further attention include logistics, tourism and other service-related industries, and agriculture and agribusiness. These sectors faced various implementation and operational challenges that affected the attainment of some development targets.

To address these concerns, RDC XI identified priority strategies aimed at improving infrastructure and connectivity, strengthening agricultural productivity and resilience, expanding economic opportunities, enhancing workforce competitiveness, and sustaining inclusive regional growth."
