1003rd Infantry Brigade Marks 18 Years of Dedicated Service

Malagos, Baguio District, Davao City – The 1003rd Infantry (RAPTOR) Brigade commemorated its 18th Founding Anniversary on 28 March 2026 at Headquarters, 1003rd Infantry Brigade, Camp Mariano R. Marcos, Malagos, Baguio District, Davao City, with the theme “18 Years of Dedicated Service: Accomplishing the Mission, Securing Lasting Peace.” The celebration highlighted the Brigade’s enduring commitment to safeguarding peace and protecting the Filipino people.

The commemoration commenced with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Heroes Memorial to honor the sacrifices of fallen soldiers who gave their lives in service to the nation. The ceremony was attended by Hon. Pedrito C. Angco, Barangay Captain of Calinan, who joined Brigade leadership and personnel in paying tribute to the heroes whose courage and patriotism continue to inspire the unit’s mission.

The activity was followed by the Blessing of Facilities and Holy Mass, officiated by Rev. Fr. Pepe Retorca, Parish Priest of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Calinan, invoking prayers for guidance, protection, and continued success of the Brigade in fulfilling its mandate.

The anniversary celebration was graced by the distinguished presence of the Guest of Honor and Speaker, Major General Alvin V. Luzon, Commander of the 10th Infantry (AGILA) Division. In his address, he lauded the Raptor Brigade for its exemplary contributions to the preservation of peace and security in Southern Mindanao.

One of the highlights of the program was an Audio-Visual Presentation (AVP) featuring the history and milestones of the 1003rd Infantry Brigade. The presentation showcased the unit’s operational achievements and its role in transforming previously conflict-affected communities into areas where peace, stability, and development continue to thrive through sustained military operations and strong partnerships with local government units, national government agencies, and community stakeholders.

The celebration also featured the awarding of outstanding personnel, recognizing soldiers and auxiliaries whose professionalism, dedication, and exemplary performance significantly contributed to the success of the Brigade’s mission. The awarding ceremony was led by MGEN ALVIN V LUZON PA, Commander of 10th Infantry Division, assisted by BGEN CHRISTOPHER M DIAZ, Brigade Commander, and COL RONALDO G VALDEZ, Deputy Brigade Commander.

In addition, several personnel from the Brigade were awarded the Military Merit Medal and Military Commendation Medal in recognition of their valuable contributions in the fields of logistics support, TRIAD operations, and administrative services, which significantly contributed to the trailblazing milestones and operational accomplishments of the Brigade.

The 18th Founding Anniversary served as a meaningful occasion for the Brigade to reflect on nearly two decades of dedicated service while honoring both past and present soldiers whose commitment has shaped the unit’s proud legacy. The event also paid tribute to the fallen heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

In his remarks, BGEN DIAZ emphasized that as the unit moves forward, it will remain steadfast in sustaining peace and stability across its area of responsibility by dismantling remaining insurgent influence, protecting communities and vital infrastructure, safeguarding national security, and supporting the government’s efforts toward inclusive peace and development.

“Anchored in faith in God, unity within Team Raptor, and strong collaboration with partner agencies and communities, the Brigade continues its mission of building safe, stable, and resilient communities,” BGEN DIAZ said.
True to its enduring commitment to the people it serves, the Brigade reaffirmed its guiding principle and battle cry, he added.

“1003rd Brigade shall continue to be the community’s protector of peace, catalyst for positive transformation, and your family in the armed profession.”

Strong Minds, Stronger Women: 1003rd Brigade Holds Mental Health Advocacy Seminar for Women

In celebration of National Women’s Month with the theme “WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society” and sub-theme “Lead Like the Babaylans, Filipinas!”, the 1003rd Infantry (RAPTOR) Brigade, in partnership with the Department of Health – Drug Abuse Treatment and Rehabilitation Center Davao (DOH-DATRC), held a Mental Health Advocacy Seminar on March 13, 2026 at Balai Kalipay, Malagos, Baguio District, Davao City. The seminar aimed to strengthen mental wellness and resilience among its personnel.

The activity brought together female officers, enlisted personnel, and CAFGU Active Auxiliaries (CAAs) from the Brigade and its Operational Control (OpCon) Units for a day of learning, reflection, and meaningful conversations. Participants engaged in an interactive mental health lecture and screening, gaining practical tools for stress management, emotional well-being, and healthy coping strategies—skills that help them remain strong both on duty and in everyday life.

“Women are the light of our world, guiding those around them with love, strength, and wisdom. Men—and everyone—reach their fullest potential because of the support and care women bring into their lives. Taking care of our mental health is how we honor this light and nurture true well-being for all,” said Ms. Virginia Ulit, Psychologist III and Head of the DOH-DATRC team.

In his message, BGEN CHRISTOPHER M DIAZ PA, Commander of the 1003rd Brigade, emphasized that mental health is as vital as physical strength, noting that a resilient mind allows soldiers to perform their mission with clarity, confidence, and purpose. He also recognized the invaluable contributions of women in uniform, encouraging them to lead with the courage, wisdom, compassion, and resilience of the Babaylans—a powerful inspiration for this year’s Women’s Month celebration.

BGEN DIAZ further urged the cultivation of a culture of openness, peer support, and mutual care within the Brigade, reminding personnel that seeking help is a sign of strength and professionalism. Through the collaboration with DOH-DATRC, the seminar highlighted the importance of partnerships in promoting the holistic well-being of military personnel.

More than a lecture, the activity served as a meaningful reminder that a strong brigade is built not only on discipline and training, but also on care, empathy, and solidarity—empowering women and strengthening the organization to remain resilient, compassionate, and mission-ready.
