Around 150 young leaders from Barangay Concepcion gathered for the first Youth Leadership Summit in Asuncion, Davao del Norte, where they developed leadership skills, strengthened teamwork, and explored the role of youth in building more resilient communities. More than a leadership camp, the summit reflected a growing recognition that investing in young people is essential to sustaining peace in communities once affected by insurgency.

IN PHOTOS: 1003rd Infantry Brigade Joins AFP-Wide Simultaneous Flag Raising Ceremony for the 10th Anniversary of the 2016 Arbitral Ruling on the West Philippine Sea

Standing united under one flag and one purpose, personnel of the 1003rd Infantry (Raptor) Brigade, Philippine Army, led by Brigadier General Christopher M Diaz, Brigade Commander joined the AFP-wide Simultaneous Flag Raising Ceremony on 06 July 2026 to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the 2016 Arbitral Ruling on the West Philippine Sea.

During the ceremony, BGEN Diaz delivered the message of the Chief of Staff, Armed Forces of the Philippines, General Romeo S. Brawner Jr., PA, highlighting the enduring significance of the landmark arbitral ruling in affirming the Philippines' sovereign rights under international law. The message reaffirmed the Armed Forces of the Philippines' unwavering commitment to protecting the nation's sovereignty, safeguarding its maritime entitlements, and upholding a rules-based international order through the peaceful resolution of disputes.

The AFP-wide observance served as a powerful reminder that every Filipino soldier remains steadfast in defending the country's territorial integrity and maritime interests with honor, professionalism, and patriotism.

As the nation marks this historic milestone, the 1003rd Infantry Brigade stands with the Armed Forces of the Philippines in renewing its commitment to the theme:

"Our Seas, Our Rights, Our Future."

"Atin ang West Philippine Sea. Atin ang pananagutan pangalagaan ito. Atin ang tungkuling ipagtanggol itoโ€”nang may dangal, propesyonalismo, at pagmamahal sa ating bayan."

CAPTION: Marking a decade of victory through law, not force. The July 12, 2016 Arbitral Award affirmed that the Philippines can defend its maritime rights peacefully, through United Nation Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), evidence, and principled action. It protects coastal communities, livelihoods, and one of the worldโ€™s richest marine environments, reminding us that sovereignty is also about food security and future opportunities for every Filipino family. Ten years on, its message is clear: principles matter, lawful action matters, and a rulesโ€‘based order benefits all nations.
