12 AUGUST 2026 | BFP 11, GSIS DAVAO DISCUSS STRENGTHENED PARTNERSHIP AND INSURANCE MATTERS

DAVAO CITY – Under the guidance of the Officer-in-Charge of the Bureau of Fire Protection, FCSUPT WILBERTO RICO NEIL ANG KWAN TIU, DSC, BFP 11 Regional Director FCSUPT RIZALDE M CASTRO paid a courtesy visit to GSIS Davao Branch Manager, Oscar Paul Fortuna, to discuss matters concerning the continued coordination and partnership between the Bureau of Fire Protection 11 and the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS)- Davao Branch, this morning at the GSIS Davao Branch Office located along McArthur Highway, Matina, Davao City.

During the meeting, FCSUPT CASTRO and Manager Fortuna discussed various GSIS-related concerns, including the insurance coverage of BFP 11 vehicles and fire station buildings, as well as other matters relevant to the welfare, assets, and operational needs of BFP personnel. The engagement underscored the importance of strengthened coordination between the two government agencies to ensure efficient delivery of services, proper protection of government assets, and responsive support to BFP 11 personnel and its operations.

11 AUGUST 2026 | BFP11 CELEBRATES 35TH ANNIVERSARY, HONORS STAKEHOLDERS FOR PUBLIC SAFETY PARTNERSHIP

DAVAO CITY — Under the guidance of the Officer-in-Charge of the Bureau of Fire Protection, FCSUPT WILBERTO RICO NEIL ANG KWAN TIU, DSC, all Region 11 personnel commemorated its 35th Founding Anniversary today, 11 August 2026 at Pinnacle Hotel, Sta/ Ana Street, Davao City. It highlights decades of public service, operational resilience, and community collaboration.

The milestone celebration commenced with a Thanksgiving Mass officiated by Rev. Fr. (FSUPT) RANDY C BALUSO, T'Ocarm, DSC (Ret.). Then, Regional Director, FCSUPT RIZALDE M CASTRO welcomed the Guest of Honor and Speaker through arrival honors. The highlight of the event was the BFP and Stakeholders Awarding Ceremony, which recognized local chief executives, private sector partners, and community organizations and various local government units for their invaluable contributions to fire safety and disaster response.

BFP National Headquarters’ Deputy Chief for Operations FCSUPT FRED L TRAJERAS JR, DSC, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honor and Speaker, emphasizing the vital role of institutional partnerships.

The celebration underscored the profound significance of community partnerships in public safety. True fire prevention and emergency response extend beyond the uniform; they rely heavily on the active collaboration between the government, private stakeholders, and local communities. DAVAO CITY —FCSUPT RIZALDE M CASTRO, BFP 11 Regional Director, led a Command Group Meeting on August 10, 2026, alongside the BFP 11 Command Group and Provincial and District fire Marshals at the Tanglaw Lahi Hall, BFP Regional Office 11. The meeting focused on cascading and discussing crucial updates and directives tackled during the recent National Headquarters' Command Conference, ensuring alignment in operational policies and administrative directives across the regional offices. Other significant matters in all divisions and sections were also discussed.

10 AUGUST 2026 | BFP 11 CONDUCTS MEDICAL, PHYSICAL, AND DENTAL EVALUATION FOR FO1 APPLICANTS

DAVAO CITY –Bureau of Fire Protection Region 11 through its Regional Health Service (RHS), administered comprehensive medical, physical, and dental evaluations for Fire Officer 1 (FO1) applicants at the Parking Bay of the Davao City Fire District (DCFD) today, 10 August 2026. This crucial recruitment phase ensures that aspiring firefighters meet the strict physiological and physical standards necessary for high-intensity emergency response.

Ensuring operational readiness by guaranteeing candidates possess the peak physical and health conditioning required for frontline firefighting, upholding meritocracy through maintaining an objective, transparent, and uniform selection process free from external influence, and strengthening public safety by filtering qualified personnel to reinforce the bureau's capability to protect communities across the region.

BFP 11 JOINS OPENING OF SWIFT WATER RESCUE AWARENESS TRAINING

Under the leadership of FCSUPT RIZALDE M CASTRO, Regional Director of BFP 11, represented by FSSUPT CONRADO M BALMORES JR attended the Opening Ceremony of the Swift Water Rescue Awareness Training held on 04 August 2025 at D'Leonor Inland Resort, Communal, Davao City.

The training, organized by the Department of Tourism Region XI, brings together participants from various agencies and stakeholders to enhance awareness and strengthen capabilities in responding to water-related emergencies. The initiative underscores the importance of collaboration in promoting public safety and disaster preparedness, particularly in tourism and recreational areas.

BFP 11 remains steadfast in strengthening its partnership with DOT Region XI in advancing public safety through capacity-building initiatives. This collaboration reflects the shared commitment of both agencies to enhance emergency preparedness, improve swift water rescue awareness, and ensure the safety and resilience of both residents and visitors across the region.
