DAVAO DEL SUR โ In line with its continuing commitment to accessible and efficient public service, the Department of Environment and Natural ResourcesโEnvironmental Management Bureau Region XI (DENR-EMB XI), under the leadership of its Regional Director, EnP Alnulfo M. Alvarez, successfully conducted the DENR Express Permitting on Wheels on May 28, 2026, at the Multi-Purpose Hall, New Government Center, Barangay Zone III, Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur.
The initiative aimed to bring government environmental services closer to communities by providing faster, easier, and more convenient processing of permits and other environmental-related transactions for clients and applicants.
During the activity, DENR-EMB XI assisted its clients in processing various applications and facilitated the issuance of permits and certificates, significantly reducing the need for business owners to travel long distances to access DENR services.
One of the applicants, Jeric Mejias, expressed his appreciation for the initiative, emphasizing how the program made permit processing more accessible and convenient for the public.
โUsually man gud sa Davao City mi muadto unya layo, expensive pud og pamasahe. So, salamat kaayo sa DENR sa ingun ani nga serbisyo. Dako kaayo og tabang,โ he shared.
Municipal Mayor Hon. Jose Nelson Z. Sala, Sr. also conveyed his appreciation for the program and underscored the importance of collaboration among government agencies, local government units (LGUs), and the public in protecting and preserving the environment.
โImportante kaayo nga mahibal-an og unsay mga pamaagi sa pag-atiman sa atong kinaiyahan. Kinahanglan nga ato kining ipahibalo sa uban,โ Mayor Sala emphasized. He likewise thanked DENR for bringing its services directly to the municipality, making government transactions more accessible and convenient for the people of Sta. Cruz.
The activity also featured the distribution of free seedlings and information, education, and communication (IEC) materials to further strengthen environmental awareness and encourage community participation in environmental protection initiatives.
Through programs such as the DENR Express Permitting on Wheels, DENR-EMB XI continues to uphold its mission of delivering responsive, inclusive, and people-centered environmental services across the region.
The successful conduct of the activity was supported by the presence of Municipal Vice Mayor Charlotte Gallego; Mr. Alan B. Angub, JD, MPA, AB, Senior EMS/ENRMD Head of LGU Sta. Cruz; Chamberlain J. Babiera; Forester Hilda F. Ludia, CENR Officer of DENR-XI Digos City, Davao del Sur; and Dr. Archelito Mallari, Chief of the Technical Services Division of DENR-PENRO Davao del Sur.
Barangay officials, clients, and applicants also actively participated in the event, further strengthening the shared commitment to environmental governance and public service excellence.
