In the wake of the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Sarangani and its surrounding areas, many students and their families are now facing immense challenges as they recover from the disaster.

We are appealing to the kindness and generosity of the UP Mindanao community and the public to extend support to our fellow students who have been affected by this calamity. Donations in cash or in kind will help provide essential needs such as food, water, hygiene supplies, clothing, school materials, and other emergency assistance.

A destructive magnitude 7.8 earthquake recently shook Southern Mindanao last June 8, leaving a trail of destruction across General Santos City, Sarangani, Davao, and nearby provinces.

Last March 20โ€“21, 2026, the Maroon Emergency Response Team was on duty at the University of the Philippines Mindanao in support of SOM Hudyaka 2026: Daloy ng Paninindigan, Alon ng Katarungan sa Karagatan.

In partnership with the School of Management Student Council, MERT provided first aid and emergency response services to help ensure the safety and well-being of all participants throughout the event.
