Amid the prevailing high heat index, the Schools Division Office (SDO) of Davao del Sur has strengthened safety and emergency response measures to protect athletes, coaches, and technical officials participating in the 2026 Davao del Sur Division Athletic Association (DavSurDAA) Meet.

To ensure the safety and security of all participants, the Division, through its Incident Management Team (IMT), has established an incident response plan and deployed responders across playing venues to provide immediate assistance in case of emergencies.

From Day 1 of the meet to the present, only minor injuries have been reported to the Incident Command Post, with all cases receiving immediate medical attention.

The Incident Management Team is composed of the Division Medical Team, headed by Medical Officer Dr. Michelle Macasayon, and Division Nurses deployed to different playing venues. The team is further supported by Emergency Response Units from the nine participating municipalities, the Provincial Response Team, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (MDRRMOs), Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), Municipal Health Office of Malalag, Barangay Peacemaking Action Team, School Disaster Response Team, and Red Cross Youth Davao del Sur.

These responders are equipped with emergency response vehicles, medical supplies, and other necessary equipment to ensure immediate action and coordinated response to any incident that may occur during the competition.

In response to the high heat index, the SDO Davao del Sur also issued a Memorandum on the Implementation of Heat-Related Safety and Hydration Measures during the Conduct of the DavSurDAA Meet.

Among the measures stipulated in the memorandum is that no outdoor event shall be scheduled during peak daytime heat unless authorized with established safety measures. It also requires all delegations and participating teams to ensure the availability of an adequate supply of safe and potable drinking water, alongside other heat-related safety and preventive measures.

Through this multi-agency safety and emergency response system, the SDO Davao del Sur and its Incident Management Team continue to safeguard the welfare of all participants and help ensure the safe and successful conduct of the 2026 DavSurDAA Meet.

Planning Meeting and Team Building

SAVERS Rescue Group proudly joined the Scubasurero Program spearheaded by the Local Government Unit of Sta. Cruz through the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO).

The activity brought together government agencies, volunteers, partner organizations, and community members in a shared commitment to environmental protection and disaster risk reduction. Through community clean-up efforts and the promotion of proper solid waste management, participants contributed to maintaining a cleaner environment, reducing flood hazards, and fostering a culture of environmental responsibility.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the LGU Sta. Cruz and MDRRMO Sta. Cruz for organizing this meaningful initiative and for continuously promoting programs that encourage volunteerism, community participation, and resilience.
