A significant turn-over ceremony was held at the Department of Education Regional Office in Davao City on August 26, 2026, as Rebisco-Creamline strengthened its commitment to developing young volleyball athletes in partnership with the Department of Education.

Porferio L. Antipala Elementary School (PLAES) expressed its gratitude after being chosen as one of the beneficiaries. The school received four volleyballs and one volleyball net, providing its athletes with much-needed equipment to sharpen their skills, build confidence, strengthen teamwork, and develop discipline.

“Volleyball holds a special place in our hearts. Rebisco-Creamline believes the Philippine volleyball community’s journey begins in schools,” said Darlene Geronimo, Manager of the Marketing Department of Creamline Company. Her message emphasized the important role of schools in discovering and nurturing the country’s future volleyball talents.

The PLAES Volleyball Team also thanked the Department of Education, Schools Division of Davao City, Tugbok East District, and DAVRAA Tournament Manager Michael Sol Binghay for their continued trust, guidance, and support for the Porferians Volleyball Team.

Beyond the volleyballs and net, the donation serves as an inspiration for the young athletes to dream bigger and work harder. With dedication, teamwork, and pride, the Porferians are determined to keep playing, improving, and reaching greater heights in volleyball.

Reinforcing its commitment to providing a safe, secure, and nurturing learning environment, Buhangin Central Elementary School SPED Center, Buhangin West Distrit, Davao City conducted a collaborative meeting focused on strengthening school security, safety, and preparedness against potential incidents of school violence.

The meeting was attended by PLTCOL Clarence K. Caswen and PSMS Rico Fernando Remulta, who shared valuable updates and insights on current school safety and security measures. Discussions emphasized the importance of proactive preparedness, prevention strategies, and coordinated response mechanisms to address potential threats that may affect learners, teachers, and school personnel.
During the engagement, school officials were encouraged to assess and strengthen the institution's level of preparedness in responding to school violence and other security concerns. Emphasis was placed on the establishment of clear protocols, heightened vigilance, and effective coordination among stakeholders to ensure the safety of the school community.

“Our commitment to learner protection is not new. Since 2014, we have been implementing the Learner Formation Officer (LFO) Initiative to guide our learners in developing discipline, good character, and positive values. More importantly, the program helps us create a safe and nurturing environment where every child feels protected, supported, and empowered to learn,” Principal Mary Germaine V. Alberto emphasized.

Further strengthening the school's security efforts, Technical Sergeant Cris of Task Force Davao also visited the school to follow up on existing security precautionary measures. The visit provided an opportunity to review current practices and ensure that appropriate safety protocols remain in place to safeguard learners and personnel.

In response to recent reports of school violence in various educational institutions, Principal Alberto convened key school personnel, including Grade Leaders, the Guidance Advocate, Learner Information Officer, Discipline Officer, GAD Coordinator, Child Protection Officer, and Learner Rights Protection Officer. The collaborative discussion focused on enhancing preventive measures, strengthening communication channels, and ensuring a coordinated approach to child protection and school safety.

The meeting underscored the importance of a whole-school approach in promoting security and child protection. Through collective effort and shared responsibility, BCESSC continues to strengthen early identification of concerns, improve response systems, and foster a supportive and inclusive environment where learners feel safe and valued.

With strengthened partnerships among school stakeholders, law enforcement authorities, and security agencies, Buhangin Central Elementary School SPED Center remains steadfast in its commitment to creating a school community where every learner can learn, grow, and thrive in a safe and secure environment.

DAVAO CITY NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL — Five learners from the Special Program in Foreign Language (SPFL)–Japanese of Davao City National High School (DCNHS) and their teacher have successfully passed the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT), marking another significant achievement for the school’s Japanese language program.

The JLPT is a standardized examination used to evaluate and certify the Japanese-language proficiency of non-native Japanese speakers.It is an internationally recognized language examination which has five levels, from N5 to N1, with N5 being the introductory level and N1 being the most advanced.

The achievement reflects the learners’ dedication, perseverance, and commitment to learning Japanese, as well as the continuous guidance and support of their SPFL–Japanese teachers.

The successful JLPT passers are:

Passing the JLPT is a notable accomplishment as the examination assesses their ability to understand and use the Japanese language in various contexts.

For these students, the achievement represents not only their knowledge of Japanese vocabulary, grammar, and expressions, but also the countless hours of practice, study, and determination behind their success.

Among this year’s passers, Axhiel Kian Gumapac achieved the highest JLPT level with straight A's among DCNHS SPFL–Japanese learners so far. Reflecting on his journey, Gumapac shared his experience in disbelief: "I doubted myself on countless nights, everyday, everynight, but God never stopped giving me another morning to keep studying. Today, that morning became "N4 Passed".

For SPFL–Japanese teacher Sir Ef, passing the JLPT N3 was also a journey of persistence. After taking the examination a second time, he finally achieved the N3 level. It's a reminder that even teachers experience setbacks in the pursuit of their goals.

Sharing his thoughts on pursuing higher levels of Japanese proficiency, Sir Efr said: “It took me a second attempt to pass the N3. There were many sacrifices and challenges along the way, but I chose to keep going and pursue the goal. I strongly believe that, as a teacher, I must continue to learn so that I can give more to my students. I also want to show them that failing once does not mean failing forever. Sometimes, failure is simply a setback; a lesson that teaches us to stand up, try again, and keep moving forward.”

The achievement highlights the importance of the SPFL program in providing learners with opportunities to develop language skills while gaining appreciation for Japanese culture and strengthening people-to-people connections between the Philippines and Japan.

As these young learners continue their Japanese language journey, their achievement serves as an inspiration to fellow DCNHS students who dream of learning another language and exploring opportunities beyond the classroom.

Tugbok East District in Davao City Division conducted the Scribblers Cup 2026, marking the third year of its campus journalism initiative under the theme, “Ink, Truth and Purpose: Championing Relevant Stories that Shape Schools and Communities,” on August 22, 2026, at Mintal Elementary School.

The district-wide competition gathered aspiring elementary campus journalists who showcased their writing, creativity, critical thinking, and responsible journalism skills with the guidance of their coaches and support of their school heads.

As Dr. Rene P. Sultan assumed leadership as the new Public Schools District Supervisor of Tugbok East, the district emphasized and strengthened the vital role of campus journalists in informing and inspiring their school communities, saying, “Our campus journalists are not only writers; they are young voices who have the power to inform, inspire, and make a difference in their schools and communities.”

Dr. Sultan highlighted the competition’s role in strengthening campus journalism skills as the district prepares for the upcoming Division Schools Press Conference, stating, “The Scribblers Cup is an important part of our preparation for the Division Schools Press Conference because it allows our campus journalists to strengthen their skills, gain confidence, and be better prepared for the challenges of the division competition.”

Meanwhile, Tacunan Elementary School defended its championship title, emerging as the top-performing school in the Scribblers Cup 2026 , while Mintal Elementary School secured second place and Ula Elementary School finished third.

Moving forward, Tugbok East District will intensify its preparation for the Division Schools Press Conference, scheduled for September 9–13, 2026, at Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School, Davao City Division, as its campus journalists carry their sharpened skills, renewed confidence, and a sense of responsibility into the next level of competition.

Flood-affected learners and teachers find hope through OVP PagbaBago and RICE Program

When floodwaters swept through communities, they carried away not only possessions but also a sense of security for many families. Homes were submerged, school materials were damaged, and countless residents were left struggling to recover from the devastation caused by the flash flood.

Among those affected were learners of Talomo Central Elementary School, Talomo East District, Davao City, many of whom lost their books and school supplies just weeks into the school year. Teachers, too, faced their own challenges as they balanced their responsibilities in school with the task of rebuilding their lives at home.

Amid these difficulties, hope arrived on August 13, 2026, through the Office of the Vice President (OVP) PagbaBago Program, which provided 1,144 backpacks with school supplies to affected learners, and the RICE Program (Relief for Individuals in Crisis and Emergencies), which extended assistance to teachers who were victims of the flood.

For parents like Sherielyn Balili Juegos, whose Grade 1 daughter Princess Rylyn was among the recipients, the assistance brought much-needed relief and encouragement.

“We are very grateful to Vice President Sara Duterte for continuously extending assistance whenever calamities strike. We also thank Talomo Central Elementary School, led by our principal and dedicated teachers, for reaching out and helping affected families. God bless us all,” she shared in Bisaya.

The joy of receiving the assistance was also evident in the eyes of young Princess Rylyn, who expressed her gratitude in her own simple yet heartfelt way.

“Thank you so much for the school supplies. I am happy because I can use them in school. I will study hard and take care of the things that were given to me,” said Princess Rylyn in Bisaya.

Principal Glen L. Pardillo also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Office of the Vice President, the program implementers, and everyone who extended assistance to the school community. He emphasized that the support given to the learners and teachers serves as a reminder that no one has to face adversity alone.

The flood may have taken away belongings, school supplies, and the comfort of everyday life, but it could not take away the strength of a community that chooses to care. Through the OVP PagbaBago and RICE Programs, learners and teachers were reminded that in times of crisis, compassion can become a source of courage and hope.

As the school community continues to heal and rebuild, they carry with them more than the assistance they received. They carry the kindness of those who reached out, the hope of brighter days, and the strength to rise once more.

For when the waters rose, compassion carried them through, and when the waters receded, it was that same compassion that helped them move forward.

Extended community service targets Grade 3 reading and numeracy support.



Brokenshire College Inc. has tapped Wireless Elementary School as its partner for Project GABAY: Guiding and Building Abilities of the Young. This extended community service program provides targeted tutorial support in reading and numeracy to Grade 3 learners.



The program was formally launched on August 13, 2026, following a proposal meeting on July 31, 2026. It will serve identified low- and high-emergent readers in Grade 3, based on results of a Reading and Numeracy Pre-Assessment conducted on August 7, 2026, by Brokenshire teachers.



School Principal Anthony C. Batocael said the partnership complements the school’s current literacy efforts and adds direct tutorial support where it is needed most. “Brokenshire College selected Wireless Elementary School as its community partner. With this, our Grade 3 emergent readers now receive focused support in reading and numeracy. This strengthens what we already do in class,” the principal said.



Warren Cahayag, Community Extension Services Academic In-Charge of Brokenshire College Inc., said the college selected Wireless Elementary School for its strong commitment to learners and active partnership in community initiatives. “Project GABAY extends our service beyond the campus. We focus on foundational skills so learners can catch up and move forward with confidence,” Cahayag said.



Also present during the proposal meeting were Lindy Trenilla, RSW, CES Unit Head; John Kenneth Cedeño, MAEM, OIC Principal for Basic Education; Rotchie C. Rin, CDC Coordinator; Aiza Ang; Allintre Lyn of the Basic Education Department; and Elaine Mitchz N. Ocampo of the Kindergarten Department. Representing Wireless Elementary School were School Principal Anthony C. Batocael, Master Teacher Violeflor Gella, and Adopt-a-School Program Coordinator Christine Dagmil.



Under Project GABAY, Brokenshire College teachers and volunteers will conduct regular tutorials guided by pre-assessment data. The data-driven approach ensures that lessons directly address specific gaps in literacy and numeracy.



By choosing Wireless Elementary School as its partner, Brokenshire College demonstrates that community service can go beyond goodwill. Project GABAY delivers measurable support to learners, reinforces classroom instruction, and builds a stronger foundation for every Grade 3 learner.

Consultative meeting sets direction for Arabic and Islamic Values Education



The school and parents convened on August 16, 2026, for a Consultative Meeting on the implementation of the ALIVE Program: Arabic Language and Islamic Values Education. The meeting was held to align plans, address concerns, and strengthen home-school partnership for the program. School officials noted that values education remains vital amid current challenges in basic education.



School Principal Anthony C. Batocael emphasized the school’s commitment to inclusive, values-based education for Muslim learners. “The ALIVE Program ensures that every learner, regardless of background, receives education that respects faith and culture. It teaches compassion, discipline, and respect, which are important in building a peaceful school community,” the principal said.



Jocielyn L. Agting, SPTA Chairman, expressed full PTA support. “We encourage parents to partner with the school in shaping the academic and moral growth of our children. Values formation starts at home,” the chairman said.



Ustadz Ranain Haroun, Education Program Supervisor for ALIVE, presented the program’s objectives and framework. He said ALIVE focuses on Arabic language proficiency and Islamic values formation. He stressed that success depends on school-home cooperation.



An open forum facilitated by Emily C. Moraki, School ALIVE Teacher and Coordinator, allowed parents and stakeholders to raise recommendations. Agreements were documented to guide implementation. The school acknowledged parents of ALIVE learners and SPTA officers led by Chairman Jocielyn Agting for their support.



With this unified effort, Wireless Elementary School strengthens its commitment to deliver values-based education through ALIVE. By working hand in hand, the school and parents aim to nurture learners who are academically competent, morally grounded, and respectful of faith and culture.
