𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞: The Asian Social Project Services, Inc. (ASPSI), in partnership with DOST–Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD), conducted a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) at DOST Davao Region as part of the OneLab Impact Assessment.

The activity brought together selected customers of DOST RSTL-Davao to gather valuable insights and feedback on their experiences with the OneLab Project and DOST laboratory services. The discussions aim to evaluate the project's impact on service accessibility, customer satisfaction, and overall service delivery, providing valuable inputs for the continuous improvement of the OneLab network.

Following the FGD, the ASPSI and DOST-PCIEERD team toured the DOST RSTL-Davao laboratory facilities to gain a better understanding of the laboratory's operations, testing and calibration services, and its role in supporting the OneLab network.

DOST RSTL-Davao remains committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen the delivery of quality laboratory services and promote continuous improvement through stakeholder engagement and collaboration.

LOOK: The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Davao Region has successfully concluded the regional evaluation for the Search for Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) 4.0 Awardees.

The Search for SETUP 4.0 Awardees is DOST's recognition program that honors outstanding SETUP-assisted Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) that have demonstrated excellence in technology adoption, innovation, digital transformation, sustainability, and overall business performance. The initiative celebrates enterprises that have effectively leveraged science, technology, and innovation to enhance their productivity, competitiveness, and resilience while serving as models for other MSMEs across the region.

Following a rigorous evaluation process, enterprises were assessed under the following award categories:

🏅 CIRCLE Award
🏅 PRAISE Award

The Regional Search highlights the remarkable achievements of Davao Region's innovative MSMEs and their significant contributions to regional development and economic growth through science and technology.

The selected regional awardees will represent the Davao Region in the National Search during the National Science, Technology, and Innovation Week.

LOOK: The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Davao Region has completed the deliberation for the 2026 Regional Search for the Best CEST Community, recognizing communities that have demonstrated how science, technology, and innovation (STI) can improve lives, strengthen local governance, and promote inclusive and sustainable development.

In his opening remarks, DOST Davao Regional Director Anthony C. Sales, PFT, CESO III, emphasized that the occasion is more than a recognition of achievements—it is a celebration of the strong partnership between DOST and the communities it serves.

This year's nominees include local government units, associations, and barangays from across the Davao Region that have implemented science-based initiatives addressing community needs and improving the quality of life of their constituents.

The regional winner will represent the Davao Region in the National Search for the Best CEST Community, showcasing how science, technology, and innovation continue to create empowered, resilient, and sustainable communities.

𝗕𝗮𝗴𝗼𝗯𝗼-𝗧𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗯𝗮𝘄𝗮 𝗪𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗪𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗗𝗢𝗦𝗧'𝘀 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗪𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴

The Binugao Bagobo Tagabawa Women's Association (BIBATAWA) continues to weave a brighter future for their community as 12 of its weavers completed the Advanced Handloom Weaving Training conducted by the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI), in partnership with DOST Davao Region through its Grassroots Innovation for Inclusive Development (GRIND) Program, from July 27–31, 2026, in Brgy. Binugao, Toril District, Davao City.

Building on the skills they acquired from previous handloom weaving training, the participants refined their craftsmanship through advanced weaving techniques and more intricate design patterns. The training enabled the weavers to produce more diverse, high-value textile products while staying true to the cultural identity and artistry of the Bagobo Tagabawa people.

More than enhancing technical skills, the initiative reaffirmed the community's commitment to preserving an age-old weaving tradition that reflects its history, identity, and way of life. By combining indigenous knowledge with appropriate technologies, the training opened new opportunities for sustainable livelihoods while ensuring that traditional craftsmanship continues to thrive across generations.

Through the continued partnership between DOST-PTRI and DOST Davao Region, BIBATAWA weavers are better equipped to strengthen their community-based weaving enterprise, improve the quality and marketability of their products, and contribute to the preservation and promotion of the Philippines' rich textile heritage.

As DOST continues to bring science, technology, and innovation closer to communities, initiatives like these demonstrate how empowering local artisans can preserve cultural heritage, foster inclusive development, and create lasting economic opportunities for indigenous peoples.
