𝗟𝗧𝗙𝗥𝗕 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗫𝗜 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗢𝗻-𝘁𝗵𝗲-𝗝𝗼𝗯 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝘀

The LTFRB XI, under the leadership of Regional Director Nonito A. Llanos III, warmly welcomed its newest batch of On-the-Job Training (OJT) students during an orientation held at the LTFRB Region XI Office in Davao City.

The new group is composed of nine (9) student interns, with eight (8) coming from Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao (Mapúa MCM) and one (1) from the University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC).

In line with the directives of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., through DOTr Secretary Atty. Giovanni Z. Lopez and LTFRB Chairman Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II, LTFRB Region XI remains committed to supporting the development of future professionals by providing students with meaningful learning opportunities that complement their academic training while fostering a culture of public service.

Regional Director Nonito A. Llanos III, together with Administrative Officer V Tessa A. Piansay, expressed their gratitude to the agency's partner educational institutions for their continued trust and collaboration. LTFRB Region XI and Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao have been partners since the signing of their Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) in 2025, while the University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC) joins the agency as its newest academic partner.

The LTFRB XI, under the leadership of Regional Director Nonito A. Llanos III, continues to strengthen the implementation of the Public Transport Modernization Program (PTMP) as Davao Avante Transport Service Cooperative officially introduced its modernized UV Express unit during a turnover ceremony held at the LTFRB Region XI Office in Davao City. The newly modernized vehicle is set to serve commuters along the Davao City–Baganga, Davao Oriental (vice versa) route.

The ceremonial turnover was led by LTFRB XI Regional Director Nonito A. Llanos III, together with Chief Transportation Development Officer Atty. Ernest Benz S. Davila and PTMP Head Engr. Mark Renz C. Baldevieso. The Order of Dropping and Substitution was formally received by the cooperative's authorized representative, signifying another milestone in Davao Avante Transport Service Cooperative's continuing modernization efforts.

Also present during the activity were LTFRB XI Section Heads and Unit Leads, members of the PTMP Team including GIS Specialist Arc. Renzo Edrian G. Reyno and Project Evaluation Officer II Engr. Kate Dianne G. Delideli, as well as officers, members, and drivers of Davao Avante Transport Service Cooperative.

Aligned with the directives of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., through DOTr Secretary Atty. Giovanni Z. Lopez and LTFRB Chairman Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II, LTFRB Region XI remains steadfast in promoting a modern, efficient, and commuter-focused public transportation system by continuously supporting transport cooperatives throughout the Davao Region.

In response to a complaint regarding the out-of-line operations of public utility vehicles serving the Catitipan route along Landmark, LTFRB XI, under the leadership of Regional Director, Nonito A. Llanos III, promptly conducted an inspection and validation to verify the reported concern.

The inspection was launched by the agency's enforcement personnel as part of LTFRB Region XI's continuing commitment to ensuring that public utility vehicles operate in accordance with their authorized routes and existing franchise regulations. The activity also reflects the agency's proactive approach to addressing transport-related concerns raised by the public through appropriate verification and enforcement measures.

In line with the directives of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., through DOTr Secretary Atty. Giovanni Z. Lopez and LTFRB Chairman Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II, LTFRB Region XI remains steadfast in upholding the integrity of public transportation services by promoting compliance with franchise regulations and ensuring safe, orderly, and reliable transport operations throughout the Davao Region.

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board - LTFRB, under the guidance of DOTr Secretary Giovanni “Banoy” Z. Lopez, has stepped up the operations against dilapidated public utility vehicles as part of the efforts to provide decent, reliable and comfortable public transportation to the Filipino people.

A total of 226 taxis and passenger buses were apprehended during the two-month aggressive campaign, or from June to July this year, in Metro Manila and nearby areas.

LTFRB Chairman Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II has committed to sustain the aggressive operations as he emphasized that Filipino commuters deserve to be treated with dignity and respect by PUV drivers and operators.

“There must be no excuses for dilapidated, untidy and stinking public transportation units. That is clear and simple, and that is based on the rules and regulations that PUV operators are fully aware of when they sought for the authority to operate,” said Chairman Vigor.

“If these are being violated, then we have no choice but to strip them with the privilege to operate PUVs for disrespecting not only the commuters but the entire public transportation system that we seek to further improve and professionalize,” he added,

Atty. Sherwin D. Vizconde, head of the LTFRB Law Enforcement Division, said a total of 178 taxi units were apprehended in the series of operations in Caloocan and Quezon City areas.

He said these areas are where they have been receiving reports of dilapidated taxi units from passengers.

He said 48 passenger buses were also apprehended when LTFRB enforcers have been deployed along NIA Road, Robinson Antipolo, Monumento and Mindanao Avenue areas.

“We already sent show cause orders to the operators. We asked them to explain why their franchise should not be cancelled or revoked for operating untidy and dilapidated units,” said Vizconde.

The operations are part of Chairman Vigor’s commitment to further improve and modernize the country’s public transport system.

Chairman Vigor himself has been conducting surprise inspections targeting taxis, jeepneys, buses and even TNVS units.

“Filipino commuters deserve better. Those who violate the regulations on cleanliness and presentability of units have no place in our public transportation system,” said Chairman Vigor. #
