FIVE ARRESTED, INCLUDING THREE CHINESE NATIONALS, IN TACLOBAN HEALTH PRODUCT BUST

The Philippine National Police (PNP), under the command of PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., arrested five individuals, including three Chinese nationals, in separate operations targeting the alleged sale and distribution of unauthorized health products in Tacloban City on October 8, 2026.

The arrests stemmed from separate operations by the Tacloban City Police Office–City Intelligence Unit and Police Station 2, with the assistance of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Bureau of Customs (BOC), in Barangays 40 and 13, Tacloban City. Those arrested were three Chinese nationals—two men, aged 50 and 36, and a woman, aged 26—and two Filipino women, aged 21 and 26. They face alleged violations of Republic Act No. 9711, or the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009, for the sale and distribution of health products without the required FDA authorization.

Authorities confiscated unauthorized health products valued at ₱96,205.00 and conducted an on-site inventory in the presence of required witnesses in accordance with established procedures.

PNP Chief PGEN Nartatez underscored the importance of protecting consumers from potentially unsafe health products.

“The PNP will pursue those who disregard the law and put public health at risk. We will work with concerned government agencies to hold violators accountable and prevent unauthorized products from reaching consumers,” he said.

He also urged the public to exercise vigilance when purchasing health-related products, particularly from unauthorized vendors and unverified online sellers.

“Maging mapanuri sa mga produktong binibili, lalo na kung para sa kalusugan. Huwag ipagsapalaran ang kaligtasan sa pagbili ng mga produktong walang pahintulot ng FDA,” PGEN Nartatez added.

The PNP Focused Agenda serves as a framework for institutional transformation, strengthening police operations and public protection through its key priorities, including Enhanced Managing Police Operations and Active Community Support.

By working with regulatory agencies and encouraging responsible consumer practices, the PNP reinforces its commitment to safeguarding public health under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., upholding “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman.”

MAN SHOT DEAD IN TALISAY; SUSPECT YIELDS AFTER POLICE NEGOTIATIONS

The Philippine National Police (PNP), under the command of PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., arrested a shooting suspect following a fatal incident in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, on October 9, 2026, after responding officers persuaded him to surrender peacefully.

Personnel of the Talisay City Police Station, Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, rushed to Zone 3, Barangay Concepcion, after receiving a call from a concerned citizen. Upon arriving, they found the suspect, alias “Bongbong,” 50, inside the victim’s residence and successfully negotiated his voluntary surrender.

Initial investigation revealed that the victim’s brother-in-law, who was preparing coffee at a neighboring residence, heard the suspect arrive and converse with the victim shortly before hearing a gunshot from inside the house. Police subsequently found the victim lying on the floor with visible wounds. Responders from the Bureau of Fire Protection assessed the victim and confirmed that he had no signs of life.

The Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) was requested to process the scene and conduct a forensic examination to support the investigation. The suspect was brought to the police station for documentation and further investigation and was also taken to the Talisay City Health Office for medical examination. Authorities are establishing the full circumstances of the incident and pursuing the appropriate charges in accordance with the law.

PNP Chief PGEN Nartatez emphasized the importance of professional police intervention in securing suspects and preserving evidence in serious criminal incidents. “Every case must be investigated thoroughly, with evidence established and the appropriate legal process observed to ensure accountability,” he said.

He also urged the public to promptly inform authorities about incidents that require police attention. “Hinihikayat natin ang publiko na agad ipagbigay-alam sa pulisya ang anumang kahina-hinalang pangyayari upang makatugon ang mga awtoridad at maiwasan ang karagdagang kapahamakan,” PGEN Nartatez said.

The incident underscores the PNP’s Focused Agenda, particularly Enhanced Managing Police Operations, which reinforces timely police response and thorough investigation of criminal incidents.

As the PNP strengthens its response to violent incidents and ensures that cases are handled in accordance with the law, under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., it assures the public of “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman.”

PNP WARNS ONLINE BUYERS AS SUSPECT IN ₱304K CAMERA THEFT CASE IS ARRESTED

Under the leadership of Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), authorities continue to strengthen efforts against property-related crimes, including the illegal sale of allegedly stolen items through online marketplaces.

A 22-year-old delivery rider was arrested on October 7, 2026, in Manila during an entrapment operation after allegedly offering stolen camera equipment worth approximately ₱304,000.00 for sale online.

The case stemmed from a report by the property owner, who recognized the missing cameras and lenses in an online listing and sought police assistance. Operatives arranged a meeting with the suspect, during which the equipment was presented and its identifying details were verified before the arrest.

The suspect is facing a complaint for alleged violation of Presidential Decree No. 1612, or the Anti-Fencing Law of 1979. The case is being processed for the appropriate legal proceedings.

The operation supports the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO), by reinforcing timely police response, evidence-based action, and coordination with the public in addressing reported crimes. It is also consistent with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s call for responsive and accountable public service.

Chief PNP PGen Nartatez reminded the public to exercise caution when purchasing high-value items online.

“Kapag bibili tayo online, huwag lang presyo ang tingnan. Check the seller, ask for proof of ownership, and be cautious when a deal seems too good to be true. Kung may kahina-hinalang item o transaction, i-report agad sa pulis. A little caution can help protect you from losing your money or unknowingly buying stolen property,” PGen Nartatez said.

The PNP encourages online buyers and sellers to keep transaction records, verify the identity and credibility of sellers, and report suspicious listings or offers to the proper authorities. Members of the public should avoid purchasing goods when ownership cannot be reasonably established and should not attempt to confront suspected offenders on their own.

Through sustained police operations and public cooperation, the PNP remains committed to protecting communities and promoting safer online transactions in line with Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.

BURIED CTG ARMS CACHE SURFACES FOUR DAYS AFTER DEADLY ISABELA BLAST

The Philippine National Police (PNP), under the command of PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., unearthed a suspected Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) arms cache in Barangay Sinamar, Roxas, Isabela, on October 8, 2026, four days after an explosion in the same community killed three children and an 85-year-old woman.

Acting on information provided by a former rebel identified by the alias “Bira” on October 7, the 1st Isabela Provincial Mobile Force Company (1st IPMFC), in coordination with PNP Isabela, located and excavated the suspected cache. Inside a buried blue bucket were three M76 high-explosive r***e grenades, two 40mm high-explosive cartridges, one improvised anti-personnel mine, a blasting cap, a commercial time fuse, two meters of detonating cord, five 12-gauge sh***un cartridges, 65 rounds of 7.62mm am******on, one improvised sh***un, and one 7.62mm magazine. The recovery also included two handheld radios, a bandolier, CTG-related clothing, a camouflage upper garment, a raincoat, and other equipment and documents.

The find comes amid an investigation into the October 4 explosion in Purok Raniag, Barangay Sinamar, which killed four people and injured four other minors. Initial findings suggested that an object picked up by children from a drainage canal may have exploded while they were playing. The PNP Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Canine Unit conducted a post-blast investigation to establish the device’s type and origin. The recovered cache was placed under temporary custody at the 1st IPMFC for documentation.

“Hidden explosives are a danger even when they appear far removed from active operations. We will pursue information that helps uncover these threats and prevent deadly materials from reaching unsuspecting civilians,” PGEN Nartatez said.

“Hindi laruan ang mga bala at pampasabog. Kapag may makita kayong kahina-hinalang bagay, huwag itong galawin at agad ipagbigay-alam sa pulisya,” he warned.

The PNP Focused Agenda provides a framework for institutional transformation, with Enhanced Managing Police Operations supporting intelligence-driven action against threats to public safety. Through timely information and decisive police response, the PNP seeks to prevent dangerous weapons and explosives from claiming more lives.

Under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., the PNP remains committed to locating hazardous weapons and explosives, preventing harm to civilians, and protecting communities in line with “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman.”
