The Department of Agriculture 11 (DA-11) has disbursed a total of Php 2,697,000 in cash assistance to 1,160 rice and corn farmers in the municipality of Cateel to support their agricultural livelihoods.

Under the Presidential Assistance for Farmers and Fisherfolk Program (PAFFP), 675 corn farmers and 485 rice farmers each received Php 2,325 in direct financial relief.

The municipality of Cateel, alongside Boston, has successfully concluded its payout for the Davao Oriental leg of the program. Subsequent cash distributions for eligible beneficiaries in remaining municipalities will proceed on their scheduled dates.

The payout is part of the national government's Php 10-billion PAFFP initiative, which aims to provide immediate financial aid to agricultural workers officially registered under the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) and fisherfolk registered under BoatR. | via RAFIS11

Efforts to improve the planning, monitoring, and implementation of agricultural development initiatives in Region XI were reinforced as the Philippine Rural Development Project โ€“ Regional Project Coordination Office XI (PRDP RPCO XI), through its I-PLAN Component, convened representatives of the Provincial Project Monitoring and Implementation Units (PPMIUs) for a coordination meeting on June 10โ€“11, 2026 in Davao City.

The activity focused on reviewing implementation progress, discussing operational concerns, and aligning priorities to support the effective delivery of PRDP interventions across Region XI. Key discussions covered the CY 2026 I-PLAN calendar of activities, performance updates from provincial and city PPMIUs, and measures to address implementation challenges affecting program targets and outputs.

In his message, PRDP RPCO XI Project Director Macario Gonzaga emphasized the value of close collaboration among implementing units and local government partners, noting that effective coordination contributes to the successful delivery of rural development initiatives across the region. //InfoACE Davao

Did you ever wonder which came first?

The term "orange" initially referred to the fruit, derived from the Sanskrit word nฤraแน…ga, meaning โ€œorange tree,โ€ evolving through Persian and Arabic before entering European languages. This fruit was mentioned in Old French as "orenge" and in Middle English as "pume orange" around the 13th century.

The color designation emerged in the 16th century, when English speakers began associating it with the fruit's reddish-yellow hue, previously described using compound terms like geoluhred ("yellow-red"). Oranges originated in Southeast Asia and were cultivated across India and China.

Historically, oranges varied in color, and the bright orange we recognize today is a result of selective breeding.

Thus, the fruit's name comes first before its specific English color identification.
