⚡ Electrical fires can occur due to overloaded outlets, damaged wiring, faulty appliances, and improper use of electrical equipment. Simple precautions and regular inspection can help prevent electrical fires and protect lives and property.

🔌 1. DO NOT OVERLOAD OUTLETS
Avoid plugging too many appliances into a single outlet or power strip.

⚠️ 2. CHECK ELECTRICAL CORDS REGULARLY
Replace frayed, cracked, damaged, or exposed electrical cords immediately.

🚫 3. AVOID DAMAGED EXTENSION CORDS
Do not use extension cords with damaged plugs, loose connections, or exposed wires.

🔥 4. KEEP FLAMMABLE MATERIALS AWAY
Keep curtains, paper, clothing, and other combustible materials away from electrical appliances and outlets.

The activity aimed to ensure the operational readiness, reliability, and roadworthiness of the fire truck, while enhancing the personnel’s familiarity with its proper operation and performance. Regular equipment checks and road tests help identify potential mechanical concerns and ensure that the fire truck remains ready for emergency response at all times.

Follow these simple electrical safety tips:

🔌 Avoid overloading power strips. Plug in only the number and type of devices the power strip is designed to handle.

⚡ Check the wattage. High-power appliances such as electric kettles, rice cookers, irons, heaters, and air conditioners should generally be connected directly to a properly rated wall outlet—not a power strip.

🚫 Do not daisy-chain. Never plug one power strip or extension cord into another.

🔍 Inspect before use. Replace power strips with damaged, frayed, loose, or scorched cords, plugs, or outlets.

🔥 Keep power strips away from heat and moisture. Do not cover them with rugs, clothes, or other materials that can trap heat.

🔥 Knowing how to properly use a fire extinguisher can help control a small fire before it spreads. However, only attempt to extinguish a fire if it is small, you have a clear escape route, and you are confident using the extinguisher.

🧯 REMEMBER THE PASS METHOD

🔹 P — PULL
Pull the safety pin from the extinguisher. This breaks the tamper seal and allows the extinguisher to discharge.

🔹 A — AIM
Aim the nozzle or hose at the base of the fire, not at the flames.

🔹 S — SQUEEZE
Squeeze the handle firmly to release the extinguishing agent.

🔹 S — SWEEP
Sweep the nozzle from side to side across the base of the fire until the flames are extinguished.

🚨 IMPORTANT SAFETY REMINDERS

✅ Use the correct type of extinguisher for the class of fire.

✅ Keep a safe distance from the fire and move closer only as the flames decrease.

✅ Always keep your exit behind you so you can escape quickly if the fire grows.

❌ Never fight a fire that is large, spreading rapidly, producing heavy smoke, or blocking your escape route.

❌ Never turn your back on a fire after extinguishing it. Watch for possible re-ignition.

🚪 IF YOU CANNOT EXTINGUISH THE FIRE SAFELY:

Evacuate immediately, close doors behind you if possible, and call for emergency assistance.

The activity aimed to strengthen the personnel’s knowledge, skills, and proficiency in the proper use of complete firefighting PPE and SCBA, ensuring their preparedness and safety during fire suppression, rescue, and other emergency response operations.

The training focused on the proper sequence and techniques in donning and doffing firefighting PPE, including the coat and trousers, hood, boots, gloves, helmet, and SCBA. Personnel practiced the proper fitting, adjustment, securing, inspection, and handling of each piece of protective equipment to ensure maximum protection and operational readiness.

SCBA familiarization emphasized the proper donning and doffing of the apparatus, including harness adjustment, facepiece placement, air supply activation, equipment inspection, and safe removal. Through hands-on practice, personnel enhanced their speed, accuracy, confidence, and familiarity with the equipment while observing proper safety procedures.

The radio check focused on verifying the functionality, clarity, and reliability of communication equipment while ensuring that personnel are familiar with proper radio procedures and protocols.

The activity also provided an opportunity to assess radio signal quality, confirm communication channels, and practice clear and concise transmission of information. Effective communication is essential in maintaining situational awareness, coordinating firefighting and rescue operations, and ensuring the safety of responding personnel.

The activity aimed to ensure the proper functioning, reliability, and operational readiness of the fire truck’s fire pump, hoses, and related components. Regular pressure testing helps verify that the fire pump can deliver the required water pressure and flow, while also allowing personnel to check the condition of hoses, connections, valves, and other components for possible leaks or defects.

The fire pump and hose pressure test also provided personnel with an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the operation of the pump system and ensure that all components function properly during emergency response. Conducting routine tests helps identify potential mechanical or equipment concerns before they become critical during actual firefighting operations.
