Del Carmen is one out of nine (9) towns in Siargao Island that offers very unique eco-tourism attractions. It is home to the rarest and one of the biggest mangrove forests in the Philippines. The Del Carmen Mangrove Swamps is a sanctuary of endangered crocodylus porosus or the salt-water crocodile. One can also enjoy the soothing sceneries of Sugba Lagoon (located in Barangay Caub) a perfect watersport spot and haven for tourists.

National Solid Waste Management Council with the Environmental Management Bureau visits the Municipality of Del Carmen to check on our Waste Management Facility, review of the 10-year Solid Waste Management Plan and validate our Circular Economy Program.

Del Carmen Joins EU-Philippines Green Economy Initiative. The Programme links European and Filipino partners to foster a circular economy and the reduction of plastic waste. It also aims to improve energy efficiency, promote renewable energy use and climate change mitigation and adaptation.

The Municipality of Del Carmen, together with Surigao del Norte State University (SNSU) , is proud to have served as co-hosts of the successful YIPA TREKS IP โ€“ Youth Program, which brought together creative, passionate, and innovative students from schools across the Province of Surigao del Norte for an engaging learning experience on Intellectual Property (IP), creativity, innovation, and problem-solving. ๐Ÿง โœจ

Through interactive sessions and activities, our young learners gained valuable insights into Trademark, Copyright, Patent, Utility Model, Industrial Design, IP Application, and IP Enforcementโ€”equipping them with knowledge on how to develop, protect, and transform their ideas into meaningful innovations for their communities. ๐Ÿ’ก๐ŸŒฑ

The activity was conducted as part of MUGNA Surigao del Norte 2026, led by the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) through the IP Management and Commercialization Division (IMPCD) โ€“ DITTB, with inspiring speakers and facilitators who generously shared their knowledge and expertise.
