DIGOS CITY, June 1, 2026 โ Student-athletes from the Digos City Division who brought pride and honor to the city in the recently concluded Palarong Pambansa 2026 held in Agusan Del Sur will receive cash incentives from the City Government of Digos in recognition of their outstanding achievements on the national stage.
During the 43rd Regular Session of the 9th City Council held at the Sangguniang Panlungsod Session Hall and presided over by Vice Mayor Atty. Johari Baรฑa, City Councilor Liza Maravillas Cagas announced that gold medalists will receive โฑ25,000, silver medalists โฑ20,000, and bronze medalists โฑ15,000.
Councilor Cagas, Chairperson of the Committee on Tourism and Arts, also presented a resolution commending the winning Atletang Digoseรฑo, as well as their coaches, teachers, and parents, for their dedication, discipline, and unwavering support that contributed to the athletesโ success. The council likewise recognized all members of the Digos City Division delegation who proudly represented the city and gave their best during the national sporting event.
Apart from honoring the cityโs young athletes, the council approved a resolution congratulating the City Government of Digos and City Mayor Josef Fortich Cagas for receiving an โUnmodified Opinionโ from the Commission on Audit (COA) for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2025. The distinction affirms the cityโs compliance with government accounting and auditing standards and reflects its commitment to transparency, accountability, and sound financial management.
The City Council also approved the Supplemental Budget for Calendar Year 2026 of Barangay Zone II, with barangay officials present during the deliberation and approval of the measure.
In support of long-term economic and infrastructure development, the council welcomed representatives from the Metro Davao Economic Zone and China Construction, Inc. led by Dr. Maria Lourdes G. Monteverde, to discuss the proposed Digos International Port and Logistics Hub. During the session, project representatives presented the plans and objectives of the initiative and responded to questions raised by council members.
Through these actions and deliberations, the 9th City Council continues to champion programs and policies that recognize excellence in sports and education, uphold good governance, and promote sustainable economic growth for the people of Digos City.
