๐๐๐๐ซ๐จ ๐. ๐๐๐ซ๐๐ข๐ ๐๐ฅ๐๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ๐๐ซ๐ฒ ๐๐๐ก๐จ๐จ๐ฅ (๐๐๐๐) once again demonstrated its commitment to disaster preparedness as it successfully conducted the ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ซ๐ญ๐๐ซ ๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐๐ฅ ๐๐ข๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ญ๐๐ง๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ฌ ๐๐๐ซ๐ญ๐ก๐ช๐ฎ๐๐ค๐ ๐๐ซ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ (๐๐๐๐) on June 18, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. Despite the torrid heat of the morning sun, teachers, young learners, and parents actively participated in the school-wide activity held at the PGES faรงade and open safe space area.
The earthquake drill was spearheaded by SDRRM Coordinator Mrs. Eleonor C. Cuevas under the leadership of School Principal II, Mrs. Norwenda G. Hairil. The activity aimed to strengthen the preparedness and responsiveness of the school community in the event of a major earthquake.
As the drill commenced, participants promptly performed the standard โDuck, Cover, and Holdโ procedure. Learners protected themselves by using books and notebooks to cover their heads while taking shelter, demonstrating their awareness of proper earthquake safety measures.
To make the exercise more realistic, a search and rescue simulation was conducted. Alexa C. Arrieta, a Grade 5 learner, portrayed a victim who sustained a head injury during the simulated earthquake. She was carefully rescued and transported by Sir Hartlove A. Tampipi and Sir Edriane F. Nacua, two stalwart teachers using a monoblock chair as an improvised rescue equipment.
Another rescue scenario involved Rustom Pajeje, a learner from Grade 6 โ Tinago Falls, who acted as a victim suffering from a knee injury after being struck by a falling chair. Demonstrating teamwork and resourcefulness, four of his classmates safely carried him using improvised rescue materials composed of poles and a malong stretcher.
Upon reaching the designated safe area, both simulated victims received immediate first aid treatment from Mam Hazy Jade H. Ruga, the school's clinic in-charge. The first aid demonstration highlighted the importance of prompt medical attention during emergencies and disasters.
The conduct of the earthquake drill was particularly significant in light of the recent magnitude 7.8 earthquake that affected parts of Mindanao. Recognizing the possibility of unexpected and unprecedented seismic events, the school continues to prioritize disaster risk reduction and preparedness measures to ensure the safety and well-being of its learners and personnel.
Through the collective efforts of the school administration, teachers, learners, and parents, the 2nd Quarter NSED was carried out successfully, reinforcing the importance of readiness, coordination, and resilience in facing natural disasters. The activity served as a valuable reminder that preparedness today can save lives tomorrow.
