๐ฟ COMELEC DAVAO DEL SUR JOINS THE JOINT CELEBRATION OF ELDERLY FILIPINO WEEK AND INDIGENOUS PEOPLES MONTH THROUGH COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND VOTER EDUCATION ๐ค๐ณ๏ธ
On October 7, 2026, the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Davao del Sur, led by Provincial Election Director Atty. Jennifer P. Ancla, together with the Election Officers and the entire workforce of the COMELEC- Province of Davao del Sur, joined the celebration of National Indigenous Peoples Month, the 29th IPRA Commemoration, and Elderly Filipino Week through a meaningful COMELEC Community Outreach Program and Voter Education activity for the senior citizens of the Blaโan Tribe, an Indigenous Peoples (IP) community in Barangay Colonsabac, Matanao, Davao del Sur.

The gathering was more than a celebration. It was an opportunity to honor the rich culture, traditions, identity, and heritage of the Blaโan community, while recognizing the wisdom, life experiences, invaluable contributions, and enduring legacy of our senior citizens.
Through voter education and community outreach, COMELEC Davao del Sur brought its mandate and services closer to the people, particularly to sectors whose voices and participation are vital in building a truly inclusive, equitable, and participatory democracy.

It equips citizens with the knowledge to understand their rights, responsibilities, and role in the electoral process. By bringing voter education directly to the community, COMELEC helps ensure that every voter, regardless of age, culture, or circumstance, is informed and empowered to meaningfully participate in our democracy.
The activity also strengthened the partnership between COMELEC and the community, reaffirming the Commissionโs commitment to ensuring that Indigenous Peoples, senior citizens, and other sectors are not merely included, but are heard, respected, and empowered as active participants in the electoral process.
The activity was warmly supported by Barangay Chairperson Margarito Minggong and Senior Citizens President Pastor Benjamin Lasib, whose cooperation and partnership contributed greatly to the success and meaningfulness of the gathering. ๐ค
