Today, the UP Architecture Forum commemorates the 40th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution.
Founded as an organization pursuing to have its voice heard and justice upheld, we reflect on the countless Filipinos who, decades ago under the Marcos dictatorship, fought relentlessly for their freedom, justice, and right to be heard. On this day, the nation reclaimed its freedomβthe same freedom that we enjoy today, and that same freedom in which those who sacrificed their lives never got to experience, as their lives were stolen by oppression and torture. With reverence, we honor these known and unknown individuals whose courage and sacrifices shaped our history.
It is deeply alarming that those in power seek to erase the memory of the EDSA Revolution from our collective consciousness. Yet, despite these attempts, Filipinos today continue to fight for what is right, just, and truly theirs. The spirit of EDSA endures, and we will always remember, honor, and carry forward its legacy.
