DIMATALING, Zamboanga del Sur | August 4, 2026 — The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Dimataling, in partnership with the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office IX (DA-RFO IX), officially broke ground for the ₱15-million Cold Storage Expansion Project at Sitio Camarin, Barangay Kagawasan, marking another significant milestone in the municipality’s commitment to agricultural development and food security.

The groundbreaking ceremony was led by Municipal Vice Mayor Omar T. Buluan and Sangguniang Bayan Member Vell John P. Yrauda, together with DA-RFO IX representatives headed by Jose Agad Jr., and attended by local officials, partner agencies, and key stakeholders.

The expansion project is designed to increase the storage capacity of the municipality’s existing cold storage facility, ensuring the proper preservation of agricultural and fishery products. Once completed, the facility is expected to minimize post-harvest losses, maintain product quality, and provide farmers and fisherfolk with greater access to profitable markets, ultimately improving their livelihoods.

The initiative underscores the continued collaboration between the LGU Dimataling and DA-RFO IX in implementing sustainable programs that strengthen the local agriculture and fisheries sectors. It also reflects the shared commitment of both institutions to enhancing food security, empowering rural communities, and fostering inclusive economic growth throughout the municipality.

The Cold Storage Expansion Project is expected to become a vital support facility for local producers, reinforcing Dimataling’s vision of a resilient, productive, and progressive agricultural community.

Mayor 𝗔𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝗝. 𝗬𝗿𝗮𝘂𝗱𝗮 paid a courtesy visit to Usec. 𝗝𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗘. 𝗠𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗼𝗴, Undersecretary for Public Safety of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

During the meeting, they discussed key priorities and initiatives aimed at strengthening public safety, enhancing disaster preparedness, improving emergency response capabilities, and promoting the overall safety and security of the Municipality of Dimataling.

The courtesy visit underscores the commitment of the Local Government Unit of Dimataling to fostering stronger partnerships with national government agencies in pursuit of a safer, more resilient, and disaster-ready community.

Officials from the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Dimataling, led by Municipal Mayor Avelino Yrauda and accompanied by Municipal Administrator Fresh Martin Joseph E. Moncano, paid a courtesy visit to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) National Headquarters.

The LGU delegation was received by BFP Officer-in-Charge FCSUPT Wilberto Rico Neil A. Kwan Tiu. During the meeting, discussions focused on programs and initiatives related to fire prevention, emergency response, disaster preparedness, and community safety.

The courtesy visit provided an opportunity to further strengthen coordination and collaboration between the LGU of Dimataling and the Bureau of Fire Protection in advancing public safety, disaster risk reduction, and emergency preparedness initiatives.
