Mindanao State UniversityโMaguindanao Chancellor Bai Hejira Nefertiti M. Limbona served as a Panel Discussant at the 7th International Forum on Law and Religion and the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Agenda, organized by the University of the Philippines Law Center, Brigham Young University, and the Philippine Center for Islam and Democracy (PCID), with support from the UP Women Lawyers Circle. The forum was held on 21 November 2025 at the Henry Sy Sr. Hall, University of the Philippines Bonifacio Global City.
Recognized for her steadfast advocacy for sustainable peace, Chancellor Limbona emphasized MSUโMaguindanaoโs role in promoting inclusive development, research-driven policymaking, and womenโs leadership in the Bangsamoro region. She also highlighted the Universityโs pioneering Diploma in Women, Peace and Security (DWPS), an innovative program designed to strengthen WPS capacity-building across Mindanao. Her participation reaffirmed the Universityโs commitment to advancing partnerships and promoting the WPS agenda toward a peaceful and empowered Mindanao.
Building on these points, Chancellor Limbona also shared a powerful message that captured the heart of the DWPS program and its role in shaping peace leadership in the region. In her speech, she stated, โIt is at this precise nexus of crisis and courage that our Diploma in Women, Peace and Security finds its vital purpose. Together with PCID President Amina Rasul and Atty. Salma, the dynamic duo who greatly contributed to making the DWPS program what it is today, this program serves as our definitive answer: a grounded, urgent, and transformative intervention. We are not passive observers; we are architects of agency. We equip a generation of women and men with the critical frameworks, practical skills, and political acuity to dismantle cycles of conflict and transform their lived reality into a blueprint for peace. We work to ensure that the resilience forged in struggle becomes the deliberate.โ
