The Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer (OPSWDO) has released a new schedule for the distribution of rice under the LGSF-FALGU Rice Project on 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟭𝟳 in 𝗟𝗲𝗼𝗻 𝗕. 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝗼𝗱𝗼𝗱. Distribution in Leon B. Postigo will begin at 𝟵:𝟬𝟬 𝗔𝗠 at the 𝗠𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝘆𝗺𝗻𝗮𝘀𝗶𝘂𝗺, serving 1,712 households. In Godod, distribution will start at 𝟭𝟬:𝟬𝟬 𝗔𝗠 in 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘆 𝗠𝗶𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗰 for 545 households, followed by another distribution at 𝟭:𝟬𝟬 𝗣𝗠 in 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘆 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗻. Qualified beneficiaries are advised to proceed to their designated venues on the scheduled time and 𝙗𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖 𝙫𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙙 𝙜𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩-𝙞𝙨𝙨𝙪𝙚𝙙 𝙄𝘿 to ensure a smooth and orderly distribution.

The KALASAG-Zamboanga del Norte IATDOE 02-2026 Counter-Landing Operation SIMEX demonstrated the province’s collective readiness as soldiers, police officers, reservists, emergency responders, government agencies, LGUs, and partner organizations carried out coordinated drills across Dipolog City on August 13. The exercise featured maritime patrols, troop movements, air interdiction, airborne insertion, troop deployment, and mass casualty evacuation, with paratroopers from different parts of the region also demonstrating rapid reinforcement capabilities in Barangay Sinaman. Governor Darel Dexter T. Uy emphasized that the exercise strengthens interoperability among participating forces and agencies, reinforcing the principle that preparedness and community safety are shared responsibilities. The KALASAG-ZDN 02-2026 exercise continues through August 20 with additional non-combatant and emergency response drills designed to further strengthen Zamboanga del Norte’s capacity to respond to security threats and other crises.

“𝗥𝗜𝗭𝗔𝗟 𝗘𝗟 𝗗𝗔𝗣𝗜𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗢𝗡” 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗝𝗘𝗖𝗧 𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗦 𝗚𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗗, 𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗧𝗔𝗚𝗘 𝗪𝗜𝗧𝗛 𝗙𝗜𝗟𝗜𝗣𝗜𝗡𝗢 𝗜𝗡𝗡𝗢𝗩𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡

Dapitan City broke ground for “Rizal: El Dapitanon,” a 46-foot 3D-printed monument that aims to become the world’s tallest of its kind and a new landmark for the city’s heritage tourism. But its significance goes beyond its size: the monument is designed to present Rizal as the Dapitanon he became during his four years in exile—a doctor, teacher, scientist, farmer, and community builder whose most productive years unfolded in the city. Developed through a partnership between the City Government of Dapitan, DOST-MIRDC, and DOST Region IX, the project also puts Filipino 3D-printing and digital manufacturing technology on public display, creating a landmark where history, tourism, and innovation meet. For Governor Darel Dexter T. Uy, its greatest value will be in giving future generations a physical reminder of what Rizal did with the difficult years entrusted to him: he learned, served, created, and contributed.

The Zamboanga Peninsula Regional Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (ZamPen RSTW) 2026 officially opened in Dipolog City, featuring innovative technologies and ideas that turn science into practical solutions for everyday challenges. Among the featured projects is SARAi CeNTRO, which provides farmers with science-based, site-specific crop advisories and technologies such as SPIDTECH, a mobile tool that helps identify crop pests and diseases. Students from the Philippine Science High School–Zamboanga Peninsula Region Campus also showcased an educational game that uses play to make Chemistry and Biology more engaging for young learners. Organized by DOST-IX, the three-day celebration brings together researchers, students, farmers, entrepreneurs, government partners, and science enthusiasts through technology exhibits, forums, trainings, and competitions, with Governor Darel Dexter T. Uy and other local and national officials joining the opening activities.

A total of 101 Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL) and personnel of the Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth (RRCY) in Polanco, Zamboanga del Norte benefited from the Provincial Government’s Kuyog Ta! Medikal ug Serbisyo Caravan on August 13. Led by Dr. Benson Panaguiton and the provincial medical team, the outreach provided free medical consultations, dental services, medicines, and vitamins, with 56 CICL receiving tooth extractions. The initiative addressed a key challenge faced by the facility, where bringing CICL outside for medical care requires court authorization, allowing healthcare professionals instead to provide services directly inside the center. The RRCY expressed its appreciation to Governor Darel Dexter T. Uy and the Provincial Government for responding to the facility’s request and bringing the province’s healthcare services closer to the youth in their care.

The Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Norte and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) convened a coordination meeting that resulted in the formation of the Provincial Technical Working Committee/Inter-Agency Committee (PTWC) to strengthen the implementation of the DSWD Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) in the province. The newly formed committee will help develop strategies, identify appropriate interventions, and strengthen coordination among the provincial government, national government agencies, LGUs, and congressional offices to better support SLP beneficiaries and promote sustainable livelihoods. Governor Darel Dexter T. Uy, who presided over the meeting, emphasized the importance of monitoring and supporting SLP-assisted organizations to ensure their businesses and livelihood ventures become sustainable. Representatives from TESDA, BFAR, OPAg, the Provincial Veterinary Office, and various provincial offices also participated in the meeting.

Officials of the National Youth Commission (NYC), led by Assistant Secretary and Commissioner-at-Large Gervy James Gumarit and Chief of the Social Marketing Division Cristabeth Jacinta Madrigal, paid a courtesy visit to the Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Norte to discuss key youth development concerns and proposed reforms for the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK). Representing Governor Darel Dexter T. Uy, who was on official business, 1st District Board Member Dario M. Mandantes welcomed the delegation together with Provincial Youth Development Officer Kate Cuenca and Local Youth Development Officers from various municipalities. The meeting focused on youth-related issues affecting barangays, municipalities, and cities, including the NYC's proposal to amend the SK age requirement to 18–25 years old in line with ASEAN standards, aiming to enable young leaders to better fulfill their responsibilities while strengthening programs and services for Filipino youth.

The Office of the Provincial Veterinarian (PROVET) emerged as the champion in the first-ever Inter-Office Cook-Off Contest organized by the Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Norte through the Office of the Provincial Health Officer as part of the 2026 Nutrition Month celebration. Held at Plaza Capitol, the competition promoted the preparation of nutritious, safe, and affordable meals using vegetables sourced from the KADIWA booths while limiting ingredient costs to ₱500 and prohibiting the use of food enhancers. Participating offices were given one hour and 30 minutes to prepare their dishes, showcasing creativity, teamwork, and culinary skills. The Office of the Provincial Legal Officer placed second, while the Office of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer finished third. Organizers hope to make the competition an annual July event to further promote healthy eating, proper nutrition, and camaraderie among Provincial Government employees.
