Sibutad, Zamboanga del Norte (Septyembre 7, 2026) – Adunay 865 ka bubong nga mga benepisyaryo gikan sa nagkalain-laing mga barangay dinhi sa Sibutad ang nakadawat og tag-20 ka kilo nga bugas atol sa padayon nga implementasyon sa Local Government Support Fund–Financial Assistance to Local Government Units (𝐋𝐆𝐒𝐅-𝐅𝐀𝐋𝐆𝐔) 𝐑𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 Project karong adlawa.

Ang matag bubong nakadawat sa tag 20 ka kilo nga bugas alang na sa duha ka bulan, ug kining maong programa molungtad hangtud sa bulan sa Disyembre niining tuiga.

Ang Local Government Support Fund – Financial Assistance to Local Government Units (LGSF-FALGU) Rice Distribution Project ipanghatag sa mga kwalipikadong benepisyaryo sa nagkalain-laing mga munisipyo dinhi sa Zamboanga del Norte.

Ang maong inisyatiba mipalig-on sa lakang sa gobyerno sa pagsuporta sa komunidad ilabina sa mga pamilya nga nangita sa pang-adlaw-adlaw nga panginabuhian aron masiguro nga ang basic food needs ilang madawat.

Si Vevencia Tomado, 62 anyos, taga Barangay Kanim, sa maong lungsod mipadayag sa iyang dako nga pasalamat ngadto ni Governor Darel Dexter Uy tungod kay naapil siya sa maong programa nga diin dako na kini ug ikatabang alang sa iyang pamilya.

LA LIBERTAD, Zamboanga del Norte (September 7, 2026) — Padayon ang rehabilitasyon sa Provincial Road nga milatas sa Mauswagon, La Union hangtod sa Potungan River (La Union Section, Purok 2 ug 3), diin miabot na sa 70 porsyento ang nahuman sa proyekto nga adunay gitas-on nga 2.3 kilometro.

Ang maong proyekto gitubag sa hangyo ni La Libertad Mayor Ricky Cuenca uban sa mga miyembro sa Sangguniang Bayan aron masulbad ang dugay nang problema sa kahimtang sa dalan nga maoy gigamit sa mga residente, estudyante, ug mga motorista sa maong lugar.

Bisan pa sa kakulang sa mga ekipo, hinay-hinay apan padayon nga gipatuman ang proyekto ubos sa pagdumala ni Engr. Mark J. Rosende ug sa superbisyon ni Engr. Arcelita T. Gomiton, Area Engineer sa OPE-Sub Office, District 1-B. Tungod sa paningkamot sa mga nagdumala ug mga trabahante, misaka na sa 70 porsyento ang accomplishment sa proyekto.

Sa wala pa sugdi ang rehabilitasyon, daghang mga lumulupyo ang nag-antos sa dili maayong kahimtang sa dalan. Lisod ang pagbiyahe tungod sa mga bahin nga adunay “floating gravel” ug dagkong mga bato nga naglutaw sa karsada. Mas grabe pa gayud ang kahimtang panahon sa ting-ulan diin kanunay nga molanab ang dalan tungod sa kusog nga pag-ulan, nga maoy hinungdan sa daghang aksidente ug kalisod sa pag-agi sa mga sakyanan ug mga naglakaw.

DUTY does not always come with comfortable choices.

Answering the call to serve may mean leaving behind their families, their homes, and the familiar surroundings they have known. It may mean traveling to places where uncertainty awaits and where their presence is needed to protect peace, order, and the people they have sworn to serve.

On September 6, the men and women of the Zamboanga del Norte Police Provincial Office (ZNPPO) faced that reality as they gathered for a send-off ceremony before their deployment to support security operations for the BARMM Parliamentary Election.

Their departure reminds us of an important truth—public service often demands personal sacrifice.

These officers are not simply being sent to another place to perform an assignment. They are being entrusted with a responsibility that carries consequences for the safety and integrity of an important democratic exercise. Their presence should help ensure that voters can exercise their rights without fear, intimidation, or violence.

But while the public sees the uniform, it is easy to forget the people behind it.

Every officer leaving for duty is also a son or daughter, a husband or wife, a father or mother, and a member of a family waiting at home. The blessing led by Rev. Fr. Mario Beltran M. Patangan before their departure reflected a concern shared by every family of a deployed officer—that their loved ones remain safe while fulfilling their responsibilities.

This is why the reminder given by Provincial Director PCOL Reydante E. Ariza deserves more than a passing notice.

“Gawin ang inyong tungkulin nang buong puso, alagaan ang inyong mga kasama, at higit sa lahat, umuwi kayong ligtas sa inyong mga pamilya.”

He called on the personnel to serve with courage, discipline, professionalism, fairness, and vigilance. More importantly, he reminded them to look after one another and to remember that every action they take carries the name of the ZNPPO and the Philippine National Police.

That responsibility should guide them throughout the mission.

Police officers assigned to election security must remain impartial, respectful, and professional. They must protect voters and communities without fear or favor, follow the law and the chain of command, and ensure that their presence strengthens public confidence in the electoral process.

As they leave Zamboanga del Norte, they carry more than uniforms and equipment. They carry the trust of the people and the prayers of their families.

That is more than a farewell message. It is a reminder of what service should mean—serve with dedication, protect with integrity, care for one another, and return home safely.

Duty may take them far from home, but home remains the reason they must never forget whom they serve—and why they must come back safely. -30-

KATIPUNAN, ZDN (Septyembre 5, 2026) ---Padayon karon ang rehabilitasyon sa Basagan–Singatong–Sanao Provincial Road sa lungsod sa Katipunan, Zamboanga del Norte, isip kabahin sa paningkamot sa Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Norte (PGZN), pinaagi sa Office of the Provincial Engineer (OPE), aron mapaayo ang kahimtang sa mga dalan nga nagsilbi sa mga katawhan sa kabukiran.

Ang maong proyekto adunay gibanabana nga kinatibuk-ang gitas-on nga lima ka kilometro sa higayon nga kini mahuman. Sa pagkakaron, nagpadayon ang mga buluhaton aron mahapsay ug mapalig-on ang dalan nga milatas sa tulo ka mga barangay nga dugay nang nag-atubang og kadaot tungod sa padayon nga paggamit ug epekto sa panahon.

Sumala ni Engr. Ambrocito E. Agura, Area Engineer sa OPE Sub-Office, District 2-A, ang rehabilitasyon gihimo human nakita ang pagkadaot sa daghang parte sa dalan nga maoy nag-unang agianan sa mga residente, mag-uuma, ug mga negosyante nga nagpuyo sa kabukiran sa Katipunan. Pinaagi sa maong proyekto, gilauman nga mas sayon ug mas luwas ang pagbiyahe sa mga lumulupyo ilabi na sa panahon sa pagdala sa mga produktong agrikultural ngadto sa sentro sa komersyo sa maong lungsod.

Samtang nagpadayon ang rehabilitasyon sa Basagan–Singatong–Sanao Provincial Road, nahuman usab ang 'embankment works' sa naguba nga bahin sa provincial road sa Barangay Patik, Katipunan. Ang proyekto nagtumong sa pagpalig-on ug pagpanalipod sa bahin sa dalan nga nabungkag ug naapektuhan sa kusog nga agos sa tubig, nga kaniadto nakahatag og peligro sa mga motorista ug residente nga naga agi sa maong lugar.

Ang duha ka proyekto ubos sa pagdumala ug superbisyon ni Engineer Agura. Kini kabahin sa padayon nga programa sa kagamhanang probinsyal aron masiguro nga magpabiling maagian ug luwas ang mga provincial roads nga nagkonektar sa mga barangay ug kabukiran ngadto sa sentro sa lungsod.

Pinaagi sa maong mga imprastraktura, gilauman nga mas mapalambo pa ang transportasyon, mapadali ang paglihok sa mga tawo ug mga produkto, ug mas mapakusog ang kalamboan sa mga komunidad sa kabukiran sa Katipunan. -30-

RIZAL, Zamboanga del Norte (Septyembre 5, 2026) --- Hingpit na nga nakompleto ug napahimuslan na sa mga katawhan ug mga motorista sa gihimong pagpaayo sa mga dalan pinaagi sa pagpatuman sa duha ka ‘road gravelling projects’ sa Barangay Sipaon, Rizal aron mapalambo ang transportasyon ug mapadali ang pagbiyahe sa mga residente.

Usa sa mga proyekto mao ang ‘gravelling of barangay road’ gikan sa Sipaon Elementary School paingon sa kampo sa 97th Infantry Battalion nga adunay gitas-on nga duha ka kilometro. Ang maong proyekto gituman isip tubag sa hangyo sa Barangay Sipaon pinaagi kang Barangay Chairperson Hon. Edgardo P. Tan-awon uban sa iyang mga konsehales.

Dugang pa niini, gihimo usab ang Gravelling of Barangay Road sa Purok 3, Barangay Sipaon nga adunay gitas-on nga 500 metros. Ang duha ka proyekto nagtinguha sa paghatag og mas luwas ug mas kombinyenteng agianan alang sa mga residente, mag-uuma, estudyante, ug mga sakyanan nga adlaw-adlaw nga naggamit sa maong mga dalan.

Ang mga proyekto gipangulohan ni Engr. Mark J. Mosende ubos sa superbisyon ni Area Engineer Engr. Arcelita T. Gomiton sa OPE Sub-Office, District 1-B nga nagbase saLa Union, La Libertad.

Gikan sa Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Norte ang suporta alang sa fuel, ekipo, ug aggregates, nga maoy naghatag sa mga kinahanglanon aron mapadayon ang implementasyon sa duha ka proyekto.

Dako ang gilauman nga kaayohan sa maong mga ‘road gravelling projects’ ilabina sa mga lumolupyo sa Barangay Sipaon tungod kay mas sayon na ang pagdala sa mga produkto gikan sa uma ngadto sa merkado, mas dali ang pag-abot sa mga serbisyo sa gobyerno, ug mas komportable ang pagbiyahe sa mga estudyante ug mga biyahero.

₱ 𝟏𝟎𝟓-𝗠 𝗙𝗔𝗥𝗠 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗖𝗨𝗘 𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗡 𝗧𝗔𝗞𝗘𝗦 𝗦𝗛𝗔𝗣𝗘 𝗔𝗦 𝗗𝗥𝗬 𝗦𝗣𝗘𝗟𝗟 𝗕𝗜𝗧𝗘𝗦

DIPOLOG CITY (September 4, 2026) — With the prolonged dry spell already taking a toll on agricultural production in parts of Zamboanga del Norte, the Provincial Government is rolling out a ₱105-million contingency action plan to protect farmers, sustain food production, and cushion communities from the further impacts of El Niño.

The proposed measures were presented by Engr. Jonarex Miral during the 3rd Quarter Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) meeting on September 4, 2026, at the Ground Floor, Plenary Hall of the Zamboanga del Norte Convention and Exhibition Center.

As of August 31, agricultural losses had been recorded in Siocon, where approximately 210 hectares of rice areas were affected by the prolonged dry spell, resulting in an estimated ₱738,000 in damages.

In Roxas, another hectare of rice was reported affected, this time due to pest infestation. The latest figures have prompted the province to strengthen measures against further agricultural losses, building on preparations initiated more than a year ago.

Following an early DOST-PAGASA advisory in July 2026 on the potential impacts of El Niño, Governor Darel Dexter T. Uy requested the Department of Agriculture–Regional Field Office IX (DA-RFO IX) to preposition Quick Response (QR) inputs for priority agricultural commodities in the province.

In response, DA-RFO IX, through its Regional Crop Protection Center, delivered the requested agricultural inputs in advance.

The move was intended to ensure the availability of critical farm inputs when needed, allowing authorities to respond more quickly to areas affected by drought, pest infestation, and other agricultural threats.

Meanwhile, the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg) is working with DA-RFO IX, concerned government offices, and agricultural development partners to consolidate available resources and interventions under the proposed ₱105-million contingency plan. The plan covers four priority areas— rice, corn, high-value crops, and fisheries.

The provincial government is seeking to pool government resources, technical assistance, agricultural inputs, and other support mechanisms into a coordinated response for affected communities.

The contingency plan will undergo further consultation and refinement before being submitted to Governor Uy for information, consideration, and appropriate action.

At the same time, the province is continuing efforts to strengthen vegetable production through its flagship EGBU Scale-Up program, which currently covers 47 hectares being cultivated by 47 farmers’ associations.

Another 56 hectares are ready for implementation, providing additional areas for vegetable production and helping strengthen the province’s food supply amid climate-related challenges.

With dry conditions continuing to threaten agricultural productivity, provincial authorities are working to ensure that preparedness translates into timely assistance on the ground, particularly for farmers whose livelihoods depend directly on the next harvest. -30-

Matud kang Tan-awon, dakong tabang alang kaniya ang libreng konsultasyon kay nakahatag kini og kahigayonan nga masusi sa espesyalista ang iyang kahimtang nga dili na kinahanglan mogasto og dako alang sa konsultasyon.

Usa usab sa mga nakadawat sa serbisyo si Manuel M. Lagata, 63 anyos, taga-Barangay Olingan, Dipolog City, nga nagpakonsulta alang sa iyang kaso nga may kalabotan sa kasingkasing.

Gipasalamatan sa mga pasyente si Governor Uy sa maong serbisyo, nga ilang giingong nakapamenos sa ilang gasto ug nakapaduol sa maayong pag-atiman sa ilang panglawas.

Gipangunahan ang konsultasyon nila ni Dr. Michael Burdador, Cardiac and Vascular Surgeon, ug Dr. Paul Martin Serios, Thoracic and Vascular Surgeon.

LILOY, Zamboanga del Norte (Septembre 4. 2026) — Gipaagi karon sa rehabilitasyon ang Timan–Sto. Niño Provincial Road, human sa gihimong ‘ocular inspection’ diin nakit-an ang panginahanglan nga mapaayo ang kahimtang sa maong dalan, subay sa hangyo sa mga barangay leaders nga apektado sa paggamit niini.

Ang rehabilitasyon naglangkob sa 1,130 metros nga bahin sa provincial road.
Lakip sa mga trabaho ang reshaping ug gravelling works sa nahisgutan nga dalan.

Gipahigayon ang inspeksyon sa OPE Sub-station, District III-A, nga nakabase sa Fatima, Liloy, ubos sa pagpanguna ni Area Engineer Belen Sumatra. Sa maong inspeksyon, nasuta nga gikinahanglan na ang rehabilitasyon sa dalan aron mapaayo ang kahimtang ug ‘passability’ niini.

Ang proyekto gisunod usab sa mga hangyo sa mga barangay leaders nga maagian sa provincial road, nga nagtinguha nga mas mapaayo ang koneksyon ug pagbiyahe sa ilang mga komunidad.

Pinaagi sa reshaping ug gravelling, makangkon na gyud sa mas lig-on nga agianan ang mga motorista ug residente nga naggamit sa maong dalan.

Ang Timan–Sto. Niño Provincial Road usa sa mga provincial road nga nagsilbing agianan sa mga residente ug nakahatag sa hapsay sa pagtumod sa mga produkto ug serbisyo sulod sa mga komunidad sa Liloy.

Padayon usab ang pag-atiman ug pagpaayo sa provincial road network aron mapadayon ang maayong koneksyon sa mga barangay ug mapaayo ang ‘access’ sa mga serbisyo ug panginabuhian sa mga residente.-30-

DIPOLOG CITY — As climate threats continue to challenge communities across the country, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) of Zamboanga del Norte has intensified efforts to protect lives, livelihoods, and critical resources through a series of climate adaptation and disaster preparedness measures.

During its 3rd Quarter Meeting held on September 4 at the Plenary Hall of the Zamboanga del Norte Convention and Exhibition Center, the council approved key strategies to strengthen the province’s readiness for potential El Niño impacts and other weather-related emergencies.

Governor Darel Dexter T. Uy, chairperson of the council, led the gathering of local government officials, national agencies, and sector representatives to discuss coordinated actions that will help communities cope with climate-related challenges while ensuring an effective emergency response system across the province.

One of the major agenda items was the Provincial Action Plan on El Niño, which aligns with the national government’s framework for climate resilience. Discussions focused on measures to secure water supplies, sustain agricultural productivity, safeguard public health, and maintain public safety during prolonged dry conditions.

To address water security concerns, the council identified strategies for water conservation, resource allocation, and the development of alternative water sources in partnership with local water districts, the National Irrigation Administration (NIA), and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Support programs for farmers and fisherfolk were also outlined to help cushion the effects of drought on food production and local livelihoods. These include coordinated interventions involving the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg), Office of the Provincial Veterinarian (OProVet), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Health preparedness likewise formed a key part of the discussions, with measures focused on preventing heat-related illnesses and managing possible disease outbreaks, particularly among vulnerable sectors. The Provincial Health Office (PHO), Zamboanga del Norte Medical Center (ZNMC) will work closely to implement these safeguards.

Complementing these efforts is the province’s Nature-Based Solutions Program, “Planting for a Stronger Zamboanga del Norte,” which promotes mangrove protection and the planting of native trees and bamboo to strengthen natural barriers against environmental hazards.

The council also unveiled the “ONE QR Initiative,” a province-wide emergency reporting network that will consolidate quick-response hotlines to improve incident reporting, coordination, and response times during emergencies.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment among local government units, partner agencies, and civil society organizations to remain vigilant, closely monitor weather advisories from DOST-PAGASA, and ensure the timely implementation of contingency measures throughout the province. -30-
