The City Youth Development Unit of Dipolog joins the Consultative Assembly of Youth and Youth-Serving Organizations of Dapitan City Youth Development Unit last August 25, 2026 at Amphitheater City Hall, Dapitan City.

The gathering of various Youth and Youth-Serving Organizations was in line with the Celebration of the International Youth Day or the Linggo ng Kabataan where it aims to convene and reconstitute the youth council that will serve as the core advocacy of youth development in Dapitan together with its SK leaders.

The Office served as the Resource Person during the assembly and tackled the RA 10742 Revised IRRs Provisions governing the CYDC Membership and Election Mechanics. The Office challenged the youth council to fulfill its mandated functions and discharged it diligently with their invaluable role in leading, assisting, and monitoring the City Youth Development programs and activities and the Sangguniang Kabataan's (SKs) PPAs.

The session concluded with the YO and YSOs reviewing its City Youth Development Plan and providing valuable suggestions and recommendations in the finalization of it.

The City Youth Development Unit of Dipolog extends its appreciation to Atty. Bryne Angelo M. Brilliantes, LYDO Head of Dapitan City for the opportunity to share and participate to in Youth Development Endeavor in the locality.

The City Government of Dipolog reaffirms its commitment to supporting youth development initiatives in its neighboring city and municipalities and in the whole Zamboanga del Norte.

The Office of the Local Youth Development Officer (LYDO), led by Atty. Bryne Angelo M. Brillantes, convened local youth groups today at the City Government Amphitheater for a strategic consultative assembly.

The gathering focused on reconstituting the City Youth Development Council (CYDC) and reviewing the Local Youth Development Plan (LYDP). This critical initiative aligns with Republic Act No. 10742, also known as the Sangguniang Kabataan Reform Act of 2015, which mandates the State to promote youth well-being and encourage active civic participation.

To guide the restructuring process, Dipolog City LYDO Designate Juniel A. Fideles served as the primary resource speaker. He explained the updated rules governing council membership and election mechanics, paving the way for the official nomination and selection of the new council members. The event brought together leaders from seven local youth organizations alongside key government officials, including DILG Representative Edryl J. Secosana, City Councilor Alexandra Judith P. Meily, and Provincial Youth Development Officer Kate Cuenca.

The assembly concluded with an open forum and sectoral deliberations designed to foster stronger community collaboration. Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation President Hon. Lyza Q. Salazar, supported by SK Federation Vice President Christian Joseph C. Rulog, led the final review and discussion of the youth roadmap.

Through this unified effort, local leaders and youth groups solidified their shared commitment to building a more empowered, protected, and actively engaged youth sector for Dapitan City.

In line with the Celebration of the Linggo ng Kabataan or the International Youth Day, the City Government of Dipolog through its City Youth Development Unit convened the AGRIDAM (Agent for Risk and Damage Management) Youth Trainees for Disaster Response this August 13, 2026 (Thursday) at Social Hall, Dipolog City.

The AGRIDAM Training Seminar which was hosted by the National Youth Commission (NYC) in coordination with the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) last July 25-27, 2026 aimed at equipping the local youth with the necessary knowledge and skills in disaster preparedness, disaster response and resilience while strengthening their adaptive capacities and active community engagement.

With the valuable knowledge and training gained from the seminar, Youth Organizations, Civil Society Organizations, SK Officials and School-Based DRRM Coordinators participants to the said training convened together as a post-activity effort to plan and identify ways to sustain forward and effectively extend and disseminate the valuable knowledge and trainings they gained to their respective youth groups.

The organization known as the AGRIDAM Youth Network Alliance of Dipolog City composed of various youth leaders from different agencies envisions to establish a network of alliance that will advance the value and skill of disaster preparedness, response and resilience among the Dipolognon Youth hereby equipping and capacitating them when faced with disasters and adversities. Furthemore, it aims to establish partnership with the Barangays and the City Government in implementing their Disaster Risk Reduction and Management programs and activities while promoting participatory youth governance to their B/CDRRM Council.

Through this continued collaboration and active partnerships of youth-led initiatives, then we can ensure a safer, inclusive and a disaster-resilient community where young people and the entire constituents alike are at the forefront and catalysts of it.

Dipolog City Youth Development Council convened for its 3rd Quarterly Meeting last August 12, 2026, (Wednesday) at the Social Hall of City Hall in Dipolog City.

The meeting centered on the preparations for the City-Wide Celebration of the Linggo ng Kabataan or the International Youth Day with the theme "Different Contexts, Common Aspirations."
Various youth-centered activities are to be participated by Dipolognon Youth for the whole month of August like the LNK Quiz Bowl, YouthNite for Environment, Youth for Disaster Response (AGRIDAM), Mural Painting, Pickleball Tournament, Beach Volleyball Tournament, Dance Battle Competition, and Ms. Dipolog Youth Ambassadress.

On the otherhand, the youth council also drafted the Annual Youth Development Action Plan 2027 (AYDAP) and suggested programs and activities to sustain and strengthen the youth development work in the locality to be consequently lobbied to the City Development Council and the Sangguniang Panlungsod.

Among the highlight discussion during the deliberation of formulating the AYDAP was the adoption and implementation of a data gathering tool to determine the local youth situationer of Dipolog as basis for the effective and efficient planning of youth leaders.

Lastly, the LYDC Secretariat reiterated to the youth council the submission of their organization's Annual Accomplishment Report to the YORP portal of the NYC and the updated Endorsement Letter of their Primary and Alternate Representatives to the LYDC.

The City Government of Dipolog through its City Youth Development Unit steadfastly remain committed in providing meaningful and empowering platform where local youth develop, foster and attain their best potentials as active and responsible citizens contributory to community-building.

The City Youth Development Council of Dipolog City, the Sangguniang Kabataan and other Mindanao Youth delegate joined the AGRIDAM (Agent for Risk and Disaster Management) training with the theme "Empowering the Youth through Generational Resilience" last July 25-27, 2026 at Top Plaza Hotel, Dipolog City.

The three-day (3) Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction and Management training was conducted by the National Youth Commission (NYC) in coordination with the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) specifically designed to engage young people and capacitate them with essential knowledge, skills and values in disaster preparedness, risk reduction and response while strengthening their resilience through adaptive capacities, community engagement and a culture of safety and shared responsibility in the face of disasters and other adversities.

The City Youth Development Unit of Dipolog City conducted the Awarding and Project Grant Ceremony to the winning participants and awardees of the Search for Best Mugna for Children, Youth and Community Initiatives 2026 last July 21 at CSWD Office, Sta. Isabel Dipolog City.

The Ceremony was led by Mr. Patrick S. Jalapadan, City Social Welfare and Development Officer and Mr. Juniel A. Fideles, City Youth Development Officer-Designate and MUGNA Awards Secretariat. Youth and Youth-Serving Organizations together with their proud members and advisers joined the ceremony and received their winning Project Grants for the development, enhancement, and expansion of their projects.

The MUGNA Awards Technical Working Group sincerely wished and expressed its gratefulness to the winning participants for their grassroots initiatives that greatly impact the community while continually challenging them to keep pursing these commendable efforts for the improvement of every lives they are serving.

The City Government of Dipolog through the leadership of Mayor Berto Y. Uy continues to affirm its shared commitment to provide and institute enabling mechanisms that will support grassroots initiatives in the community as together we endeavor for a more progressive and empowered community in Dipolog City and Zamboanga del Norte.

The City Youth Development Unit through its MUGNA Awards Technical Working Group conducted Ocular Inspection and Site Visit to the Search for Best MUGNA Initiatives participating entries last July 9-10, 2026.

As part of the regular Search Process, it aims to gather firsthand data, interview project beneficiaries and validation of documents submitted through Project Area official site visit.

Moreover, the TWG also provided significant feedbacks through the suggested points of improvement and commendations cited by the Panel of Judges towards their Project Entries during the Panel Screening.

The combined scores from the previous phase (Panel Screening) and the Ocular Project Inspection will determine the over-all result on who will emerge as the Best MUGNA for Children, Youth and Community Initiative this year.

The City Government of Dipolog through its City Social Welfare and Development Office and the City Youth Development Unit successfully conducted its Search for Best Mugna Award 2026 for Exemplary Children, Youth and Community Initiatives last July 03, 2026 (Friday) at Social Hall, Dipolog City Hall.

The Awards Program aims to recognize these outstanding and brilliant community initiatives by incentivizing and providing them enabling mechanisms for the development, enhancement and expansion of their programs and projects.

The City Government recognizes their indispensable role in creating meaningful impacts to children, youth and community development. Thus, it wants to extend this appreciation by providing significant support to them as they continue implementing and expanding their programs and projects in the community.

Mr. Patrick S. Jalapadan, City Social Welfare and Development Officer commenced the Search through a Welcome Remarks, extending his outmost appreciation and gratitude to the organizations whose continuous initiatives radically contributed to the improvement and development of the respective community they are serving. He further added that their valuable existence in the community have been a significant help to the city governement by not carrying alone the vision to provide social, emotional and economic welfare and development to its contituents.

Recognizing the participants and their project entries was Ms. Jovencia D. Orilla who lauded their eager participation for this year's Search and Hon. Kristine Irish May M. Cuenca, SK Federation President, who introduced the distinguished Panel of Judges serving as the evaluators during the entire Panel Screening and Pitch Process.

Mr. Juniel A. Fideles, City Youth Development Officer-Designate and MUGNA Awards Secretariat, outlined the Mechanics of the Search Process and the Reading of Criteria, discussing the indicators to which the participants are to be assessed and evaluated.

The Search concluded through an extensive deliberations among the members of the Panel of Judges discussing carefully and sharing their individual insights of each of the participating project entry in determining this year's winner for Best MUGNA Initiative.

The City Youth Development Council of Dipolog City convened for its 2nd Quarterly Meeting last June 30, 2026 (Tuesday) at Functional Hall 1, Top Plaza, Dipolog City.

Youth and Youth-Serving Organizations from various school-based and community-based institutions gathered together to discuss pressing youth-related issues both in the national and local scale and consequently identified significant steps and practical mechanisms in addressing them.

Hon. Kristine Irish May M. Cuenca, SK Federation President, presided the meeting together with the LYDC Secretariat Mr. Juniel A. Fideles and presented before the youth council the key agenda to be discussed and taken up by the body.
Among which are the Issuance of Endorsement Letter per Youth Organization of their Representatives to the City Youth Development Council together with the reporting of their respective Calendar of Activities for the 2nd semester of the year. This is to establish alignment with the City Government's youth development programs and significantly identify areas where each organization can collaborate and partner with one another in strengthening each other's program and exponentially expand it. Moreover, discussion also centers on the submission of each youth organization's Accomplishment Report 2025 to the YORP Portal and the highly anticipated celebration of the City-Wide Linggo ng Kabataan or International Youth Day in Dipolog City.

Key highlight also during the meeting was the Proposed Resolution sponsored by Mr. Marknin Jirald Arguelles of Red Cross Youth ZDN, Urging the Committee on Health of the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Dipolog City to recommend the creation of Regular Position in the City Government, a Pyschologist and Psychiatrist to strengthen youth mental health services, ensure timely access to professional mental health-care and promote the pyschosocial well-being of the youth in Dipolog City.

Completing the Agenda was the discussion of the CUCPD Comprehensive Implementation Report by the DILG Region IX Office from the recently concluded Youth Empowerment Congress 2026.

Concluding the 2nd quarterly meeting was the Introduction of SSG-JRMSU Dipolog to the City Youth Development Council through Ms. Kennan Mae E. Mayuga and Ms. Joanne S. Pontioso and their invitation to be part as a regular member of the city youth council. Present also was, Ms. Bless Oliquiano, CSWDO Youth Focal and Ms. Diana Racquel C. Acaylar, ZDN LEaP Programme Focal where each discussed and introduced to the body their various meaningful programs for collaboration and partnership that Dipolognon youth may avail and benefit from.

This regular convention of local youth leaders is a steadfast commitment of the City Government to continually advance youth leadership and development in the city and thrive in resilience amidst emerging youth-related concerns and challenges.

The City Government of Dipolog through its Alay Lakad Council proudly presents the Alay Lakad Scholars Graduates of the Academic Year 2025-2026.

The City Mayor Hon. Roberto Y. Uy, the Executive Chairman of the Alay Lakad Scholarship Program, together with all its Council members, expressed their immense joy and congratulations to the graduating scholars as they finally capped off this momentous milestone in their education. Their steadfast hardwork, unwavering resilience and sheer excellence in their studies paved this fruitful outcome and distinguished success shared among the graduating scholars, their parents, the city government and the whole community.

In the same note, the good Mayor also wish to expressed his sincere gratefulness to all its partner agencies, private establishments and businesses, schools, the Provincial Government of Zamboanga del Norte led by Gov. Darel Dexter T. Uy and the Congressional Office of District 2 led by Cong. Irene "Ai" G. Labadlabad for their unwavering and valuable support to the success of this meaningful educational program of the City Government.
