Organized by the Mindanao Trade and Export Foundation, Inc. (MTEFI) in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Mindanao Regional Offices, including DTI IX, and the Ministry of Trade, Investments and Tourism (MTIT)-BARMM, the trade fair carries the theme โ€œEndless Opportunities of Coconut.โ€ The event is being implemented under the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP), a comprehensive government program aimed at strengthening the Philippine coconut industry and improving the livelihood and competitiveness of coconut farmers and industry stakeholders.

Nine ZamPen Enterprises to Showcase Coconut Innovations

Representing DTI Region IX are nine CFIDP-assisted coconut-based enterprises from across the region:

1. Joks Agricultural Products Trading โ€“ Mr. Jairus E. Famadico, Zamboanga Sibugay
2. 49plus Herbal Products Manufacturing โ€“ Ms. Kislin Joy Comonsad, Zamboanga del Norte
3. Mace & Co Food Services โ€“ Mr. Michael Rey Emoricha, Zamboanga Sibugay
4. Sihnag Sahaya Agriculture Cooperative โ€“ Ms. Kerma A. Agga, Sulu
5. Balas Coconut Farmers Agricultural Cooperative โ€“ Ms. Emelda E. Alonzo, Zamboanga del Norte
6. Luaslungsad Consumers Cooperative โ€“ Ms. Nurmalyn I. Mawad, Sulu
7. LHP Food Products โ€“ Mr. Eric E. Penales, Zamboanga Sibugay
8. MAPZACARA MPC โ€“ Ms. Aiza T. Abdurahim, Zamboanga City
9. Maryaโ€™s Soap and Scents โ€“ Ms. Maria Donna Coyme, Zamboanga del Sur

These enterprises represent the diverse potential of the regionโ€™s coconut industry, demonstrating how coconut can be transformed into innovative, value-added, and market-ready products beyond traditional coconut commodities.

The participating entrepreneurs will be accompanied by Rodrigo Montero, Regional CFIDP Focal, and John Bryann Berberio, Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial CFIDP Focal, who will provide coordination and support to the participating enterprises during the trade fair.

Opening Doors to New Markets

The participation of the nine enterprises provides them with an avenue to showcase their products to a broader market, establish connections with potential buyers, and explore new business opportunities. A major component of the trade fair is the Business-to-Business (B2B) Matching Sessions, where exhibitors will have the opportunity to engage directly with institutional buyers such as supermarkets, hotels, exporters, distributors, and other potential business partners.

For DTI IX Regional Director Al-Zamir I. Lipae, the participation of the enterprises demonstrates DTIโ€™s continuing commitment to empowering coconut-based businesses through market exposure and development opportunities.

โ€œThis is our way of empowering our coconut-based enterprisesโ€”by opening doors to new markets, buyers, and business opportunities. Through the CFIDP, we want our enterprises not only to produce quality and innovative products, but also to become more competitive, market-ready, and capable of reaching markets beyond our region,โ€ said RD Lipae.

The trade fair also seeks to strengthen the coconut value chain by connecting local producers with institutional markets, encouraging product innovation, and providing coconut enterprises opportunities to test new products and assess their commercial viability. These efforts are aligned with the CFIDPโ€™s support for coconut farmers, cooperatives, associations, and coconut-based enterprises through market development, promotion, product development, and innovation.

Showcasing the Endless Opportunities of Coconut

Beyond the trade exhibition, the Coconut Philippines Mindanao Trade Fair 2026 will feature regional activities highlighting the innovative, creative, and cultural potential of coconut. These include coconut-based gastronomy featuring culinary demonstrations, as well as fashion and wearable offerings.

The event is expected to bring together approximately 100 coconut farmer organizations, coconut farmer cooperatives, and coconut-based enterprises from Mindanao, with at least 30 participants targeted to be linked with institutional buyers. It also aims to generate Php30 million in sales, including cash, booked, and under-negotiation transactions.

For the participating enterprises from the Zamboanga Peninsula, the trade fair is more than an opportunity to sell products. It is a platform to build networks, gain market exposure, discover new opportunities, and strengthen their capacity to compete in wider markets.

Through the CFIDP, DTI IX continues to support the development of coconut-based enterprises as they move โ€œfrom the farm to the marketplace,โ€ contributing to stronger enterprises, expanded market opportunities, and a more competitive and inclusive coconut value chain for Mindanao.
