Strengthening ties for a stronger local economy! 🤝

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Iloilo Provincial Office recently paid an official visit to the Municipality of Dueñas. We were honored to be warmly welcomed by our Municipal Mayor, Hon. Robert Martin U. Pama.

Led by OIC-Provincial Director Ma. Dorita D. Chavez, alongside Trade and Industry Development Specialist Lakambini T. Regalado and Junior Business Counsellor Wendy L. Lampar, the team presented the Negosyo Center’s Quarterly Accomplishment Report.

Key highlights of the meeting included:

✅ Showcasing programs aimed at boosting the entrepreneurial capacity of our local MSMEs.

✅ Discussing market-driven strategies to help our local products reach more consumers.

✅ Outlining new initiatives under the One Town, One Product (OTOP) program to elevate Dueñas-made goods.

Mayor Pama expressed his full support for these collaborations, emphasizing that the LGU remains committed to initiatives that provide sustainable growth and opportunities for our local entrepreneurs.

DTI Reminder: Know Your Essential Goods!

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) reminds the public that its price monitoring efforts focus on Basic Necessities and Prime Commodities (BNPC), in accordance with the Price Act (Republic Act 7581). DTI actively monitors and enforces compliance with the Suggested Retail Prices (SRP) of these essential goods to ensure they remain fair and reasonable for consumers.

The public is advised that products not included in the BNPC list are outside the scope of SRP monitoring, and their prices may fluctuate depending on supply, demand, and other market conditions.

Consumers are encouraged to stay informed, compare prices, and make wise purchasing decisions.

Another fundamental consumer right we highlight is the Right to Safety — the right of every consumer to be protected from products, production processes, and services that may be hazardous to health or life.

This right is upheld through key laws such as the Consumer Act of the Philippines (RA 7394), which ensures product quality and safety, and the Food Safety Act of 2013 (RA 10611), which establishes standards and responsibilities for food safety. The Local Government Code of 1991 also empowers local health authorities to help safeguard public health.

Through close coordination with regulatory agencies and local government units, DTI Iloilo helps ensure that products in the market meet safety standards and protect the welfare of consumers. DTI Iloilo ensures that this consumer right is supported through market monitoring, product standards enforcement, consumer education, and prompt action on consumer complaints related to unsafe or defective products.

Safe products mean safer communities.
Stay informed and report unsafe products to the proper authorities.

PANG'S INASALAN CHICKEN INASAL RESTAURANT

When Pang’s Inasalan began, it was rooted in years of hands-on experience and determination. Its founder, Ricardo Jardinaso, previously worked as an all-around employee in a well-known fast-food chain, where he gained valuable exposure to kitchen operations, food preparation, and customer service. For three years, he immersed himself in the culture of inasal—an experience that later inspired him to establish his own inasalan business in Dueñas, Iloilo.

The business started modestly in 2022 as a small inasalan stall with only one or two tables, transferring from one location to another. Strong support from the local community fueled its growth, and in 2024, an opportunity allowed the stall to expand into a full-fledged restaurant. Pang’s Inasalan further marked its emergence as a growing MSME when it participated in the Kasag Festival Food Fest in Banate, Iloilo.

Now, the family-owned and operated business is now preparing for expansion with the proper guidance of Negosyo Center Dueñas through one-on-one business consultations. As a graduate of DTI's Kapatid Mentor Me–Money Market Encounter (KMME-MME) Program last 2025, Mr. Jardinaso has gained deeper knowledge on how to effectively and efficiently manage their business. He is gradually applying the learnings from the program’s 10-module session, which covers marketing, operations management, human resource, and financial aspect.

At present, he plans to invest in a marinator to increase production capacity, standardize flavor quality, and improve service efficiency—transitioning from manual preparation to a more consistent and streamlined process.
